Using other resort pools...yay or nay?

Yikes!
Even though this is such a touchy subject, it's helpful for the New Disers who have either never been to DW or who are new to the boards (like me  ) !! Can you believe that I actually thought it would be okay to swim at another resorts pool!! Shame on me....Thank goodness I asked the dreaded question before I left for my trip.. Phew!

The Pledge for Proper Pool-use
"I hereby promise to never enter the pool area of any resort I am not paying to stay at. I understand that if I do so, I will be scorned by all guests and castmembers. I promise to alert all potential pool hoppers to the proper etiquite of pool usage"

:teacher:

Bottom line, there is a sign posted by every pool at WDW stating that it for the "Exclusive" use of that resorts guests. Most of the more popular pools have CM's who card either everyone or randomly check ID's to keep the pools from becoming overcrowded.

Better to ask now then be embarrased by showing up at a pool you aren't allowed to swim at and being asked to leave.

BTW--You ARE allowed to visit the other resorts, and look around. You might want to think about doing so, and look at the other pools, sometimes it can help you decide where to stay the next time! :)

Have a great stay!

How is this rule enforced??? Are there "pool police"???

Unfortunately rude people who chose not to follow the rules and obey the signs force resorts to build fences and hire employees to check room keys. Disney had to go so far as to build a fence around SAB and station CM to check id's and issue wrist bands. Other resorts have had to have CM go around and occasionally check id's.

Vegas hotel have had to go so far as to force all guest through a turnstile where they scan the room key to make sure it's for a current stay.

I've read that even the value resorts are starting to have problems with off site guests and local Orlando residents pool crashing.

I had asked a pool hopping question before...I made out with some good info and advice :D

We are staying at the POP too but I have a day where my DD4 is going to be at te GF for a few hours. She is doing the Pirate Cruise in the am and the Wonderland tea in the afternoon. She'll have about an hour in between the two and I thought it would be fun to swim for a bit. Well, I am glad I had asked because I would have shown up all decked out to swim looking like the biggest dorks! Glad to have saved myself the embarassment and disappointment of being turned away.

Better to ask then look like a dork  !

You know--if you're dropping $$ at the GF for 2 experiences for a 4 yo, the CMs might very well regard her as a guest for an hour and let her take a dip in the pool in between. This is not the same as showing up with all your relatives and the mug with the print worn off seeking to spend the day at SAB.

I would ask.

Just had to respond to this pool hopping thread as it is still in the decent stage with no truly ugly replies as of yet.

Have a wonderful trip to PC and Disney.

Hey POP's pool doesn't look so bad ! And there's more than one. A pool is a pool to kids.. so enjoy it :)

Wilderness01, don't you mean SAB and AKL for the DVCr's?

No, really. It was a perfectly valid question, There was no way you could know about the past history of this topic.

This has been the most enjoyable 'pool hopping' thread I have ever read! AND I got a new term out of it!

Maximum fur

Too funny!!! ::yes:: ::yes::
