Has anyone ever flown out of one airport and flown back to another for convenience (and pricing)?

I found a great fare out of NY to MCO ($97 per person incl taxes & fees & cheaper than SW out of BDL even with baggage fees and it gets us to MCO earlier by 3 hours) but prefer a SW flight time back to BDL.

Any input?

Not crazy, but don't forget to add in ground transportation arrangements/costs when calculating the total savings.

Well, drive time is only an approx. 30 mins difference between the two airports. I did factor in the baggage fees (one way Delta - SW no baggage fees) and still come out ahead. Family member to drop us off at one airport & pick up at another...so no additional transportation costs are involved.

I will save approximately $450 doing two airports & two airlines...which makes it seem worth the effort.

Ah, okay - that's what I meant. Example: I don't have the same luxury. Sure, I could use both BOS and MHT - but it'd mean advance planning, leaving my car in a specific location and taking a bus from there to one airport, and a different bus from the other airport back to my car. As far as I know, neither bus is free - and parking costs as well.
