using mcdonalds gift cards in the parks?

My boys recntly recieved (large amount) gift cards to McDonalds for their birthdays. Does anyone know if you can use these at the McDonalds locations (koisks) in the parks? SUCH AS PERTIFRIES OR REFRESHMENT PORT.This would save alot of money on lunches for me, since this is always a location that my boys want to eat.

I have not confirmed this, but I doubt it. First of all, those locations are NOT McDonalds restaurants, they all have names like "Petrifries featuring McDonalds" or something like that. Second, they use Disney POS terminals, not McDonald's ones, so I doubt they would be connected to the McDonald's network to be able to access gift cards.

On another topic, who would give your kids McDonald's gift cards? Sounds like it's reinforcing an unhealthy habit.

My experience traveling is that most "touristy" places and airports do not accept gift cards. As a teacher, I always a ton of Starbucks cards, and I can never use them at airports or hotels.

Of course I can't find the link or thread right now, but I thought that McDonald's (with the exception of the DTD and the one near the AS resorts) were going to be OUT of all the parks?

I swore I read this somewhere - that Restaurantosaurus was no longer serving McDonald's, and Petrifries (and the other fry carts) were changing too. I could be totally dreaming, but it was fairly recently.

All that aside, I don't know the answer to your question. I don't know why the locations at DTD and AS resort area wouldn't take gift cards/gift certificates, but I suppose anything is possible.

I know the one by All Stars does - we stopped for cinnamelts about a month ago.

There are the two McDonald's locations on WDW, outside All-Stars and in Downtown Disney. They will accept McDonald's Gift Cards.

Any other place on property (in the parks) are Disney quick service which feature McDonald's products. These are Disney and will accept Disney Gift Cards and Disney Dollars.

The OP was only asking if the french fry stands accepted gift cards, I really don't think your opinion of unhealthy eating habits was necessary.

All the fry stands in the parks were up and operating last week. We ate at them several times.

McDonald's is still very much alive and well in the Disney theme parks. Each one has one location. Animal Kingdom had two so is now down to one.

You can use your certificates at the two out of park McDonald's locations at Downtown Disney and near the All-Star resorts. If you have a car, there are also McDonald's on Highway 192 and the huge one on International Drive (which your sons might really enjoy).

The "McDonald's" at the parks really aren't true McDonald's. They don't even serve burgers. Refreshment Port does have chicken nuggets. Petrifries does not, only fries.

Now I am hungry for a Big Mac! (unhealthy eating be darned - it's McDonald's we are talking about!)
