Using DDE with a large group (18 people)

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone has any experience using the DDE discount when dining with a large group of people. I know the card is only good for 10 people. I am just wondering how this is handled logistically by the server. Will they provide one check for 10 people, apply the discount, and then provide a separate check for the remaining 8 people?
Second question - both my wife and I received a DDE card when we paid the $50. I am assuming it is not possible for each of us to use the card for 10 people so we would be covered for the 18 people. Is that correct?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

In this situation, just as any other where there will be separate checks, let the server know at the very start of the meal (when drinks are ordered).

Be aware that as long as you have eight or more people dining (even with separate checks) a gratuity will be added to the bill. This will, of course, be based on the amount without considering the discount.

Technically you and your wife have only one account; both cards have the same membership number embossed on them. If you tried to use both there is a chance that you might get by, but more than likely you will not be able to do it. (Also, you might get in trouble for attempting to misuse the cards, which could lead to revocation.)

Thank you for the information. I certainly didn't mean to imply that I was trying to sneak using the two cards. I was just trying to clarify that the limit of 10 was per account and not per card. I was just thinking that if the group split up and went to two different restauruants for dinner and I went with one and my wife went with the other, then both cards could be used. So I wasn't sure if it was the same while we were dining all together. I will inform the server at each restaurant about my situation right away as you suggest. Thanks again!

Last year in the middle of our trip we had additional family members join us for a few days. So now our party of four was a part of 15. At each of the restaurants we went to we explained that we had the DDE card and needed to split the check for ten people and five people. Each time they said don't worry about it. We were allowed to use the card for the entire party. A little disney magic there I guess. :flower:

We had a group of 17 that went in November. We all ate together at the Cape May Cafe, Chef Mickeys and Sci Fi Dinner theatre and each time they gave us the discount for all 17 people. It doesn't hurt to try to give them both cards.

We had 14 in our party and they allowed us to use one card (we had 2 separate families with 2 DDE cards so we asked to split the check to use 2 cards)

cheers

Thank you everyone! Perhaps we will get that same courtesy extended to us in July. If nothing else, it will spare me the awkward position of determining who to include in the discount and which 8 people would be left out.
