Using borrowed points not yet available

Can a reservation be made, at the 11th month window, using points not available to be borrowed at the time of making the reservation, but becoming available to borrow prior to check-in?

As long as the borrowed points will be available to be borrowed at the time of the reservation you should be fine.

If you have a June Use Year and want to make a reservation for June, 2011 - in July, 2010 you will have access to points from your 2011 Use Year, points banked from your 2010 Use Year and points borrowed from your 2012 Use Year. You can make that reservation right now for dates from June 1, 2011 thru June 10, 2011.

You could NOT borrow points from your 2013 Use Year for that reservation.

I think "available" is confusing you. If you look at your account online, you should see your current use year and the 3 following use years. You never have to wait for your use year to start for points to be "available". Any points you could possibly use are already in your account based on the use year of your date of stay.

Use year, banking, borrowing etc. have no impact on when you can call. That's always 7 or 11 months. Points just need to be available at the time of your trip.

When you book a trip, they determine which points you can use based on time of travel and not when you call (or the 11/7 month window for any reservation would not really work).

For example, I have a June UY. If I want to travel in August of my June 2011 UY, then I can used "banked" points from 2010, 2011 UY points, and borrowed 2012 UY points.

I could acutally make this reservation in Septmeber 2010 (still my 2010 UY), but since I am traveling in my 2011 UY, MS will borrow the 2012 UY points if I need them.

So, if you are traveling in the UY prior to the UY of the borrowed points, you are fine.

I have a June use year. I called just this morning to see if I could borrow from 2012 for a trip in January 2011, and they said no.

With a June use year, you will still be in your 2010 use year in January 2011.
So if you were to borrow points, they would be 2011 points.
Since you can only borrow from the next year's points, you can't borrow 2012 points until you are in your 2011 use year, which would be trips taking place from June 1st, 2011- May 31, 2012.

Well right. You are in your 2010 UY. Your Jan trip will be in your 2010 UY (goes from June '10 through May '11). You could borrow from your 2011 UY (June '11 through May '12) for that Jan trip (which is in '11, but is in your '10 UY). But you can only borrow from the next UY, not two forward, so '12 (July '12 through May '13) is off limits for that trip.
