If I transfer my reservation to AAA (to get a discount), do I pay directly to Disney or through AAA? I want to make periodic payments. Can I do that?

You would pay through the travel agent as they are in control of your reservation. And payments would be fine to make also. We would never tell a client no if they wanted to make extra payments. If a TA tells you otherwise, I would find a new TA :)

If you're doing a room only, you can book directly with Disney to get the AAA room only discount. If you want the AAA package, you'd have to book with them.

But if you do book with AAA, watch the WDW discounts, sometimes the discounts WDW puts out can be better then the AAA. You can ask your AAA TA to have the Disney discount applied to your res. if you see a better one. I would discuss this with the AAA agent before you book to make sure they will do this for you.

But you'd have to look for the discounts. Not many AAA TAs watch for Disney discounts. Some do.

I haven't had good luck with AAA. I got a price quote from them that was higher then what I got from WDW, they wanted to book me using a secondary vacation seller like Sun Fun Holidays or something :sad2:

However, that was my experience, and on the boards I've read posts from people who had great AAA agents, who were very knowledgeable. Sadly mine wasn't, and she was advertised as a Disney Specialist with AAA!

We book thru AAA but don't ususally use the AAA discount. We either use the military discount or a WDW PIN whichever is better. Currently we are booked thru AAA but used WDW PIN for free Dining in November. The advantage of AAA is you can use the AAA or other discounts but still get the extras from AAA like Diamond Parking and storytime. You can make payments using AAA. My AAA agent has my credit card on file and I email her when I want to make a payment. She then contacts WDW and makes the payment using my card.

AHHHHH! Dont switch!!

I have worked with AAA in the past and it is impossible to get in touch with your agent in a timely manner to make any changes. If you are booking well in advance, the AAA offers seem like a good deal, but Disney almost always comes out with e special promo a few months in advance of your arrival and switching to their promo through AAA is not easy. I called my AAA travel agent the day the promo came out and she was out for the day. Disney would not even talk to me because I was not booked through them. I waited until the next day, called AAA again and the agent was at lunch, then in a meeting. It was day 3 I finally got through and my resort was already booked for the promo. I had to change resorts to get a deal. Awful feeling and experience.

I would never book through AAA again (at least for Disney). But to your question, yes, you can make several payments on your booking. Final payment is due 45 days in advance.

Thanks everyone. One more question - can I still access my reservation thru Disney to see the balance?

This!

Going NJ week so I don't expect any discounts from Disney. I will save over $200 for the week so I'll do it. I've used AAA for Disney without any problems but my agent retired and this year I want to pay in advance so I was wondering how that worked.
