Using a Disney Giftcard in restaurants & other food & bev. places

Can anyone tell me where you have or have not been able to use Disney Giftcards in WDW? I have several that I hope to use in the restaurants and perhaps beverage/snack counters and kiosks (?). We'll be using the DDP, so I hope to use the giftcards to pay for things not included like alcoholic beverages in the restaurants, bars, etc. and then also at the occasional snack kiosks for extra snack items. We will also be paying OOP for a few meals (probably California Grill and Brown Derby) and hope to use giftcards for these as well. Anybody have success/failures in using the giftcards in specific places that they could share? Thanks!

you should be fine in all those situations. the giftcards work just like a credit/debit card so as long as the kiosk is set up to accept any type of card it will probably take the giftcard too.

The only places that DON'T take the Disney GC are:

A few popcorn and ice cream carts
McDonald's at DTD
Rainforest Cafe- AK and DTD
Jellyrolls at the Boardwalk (nightclub- no food, just drinks)

In my personal experience, I couldn't use my GC at 2 places in WDW. The first was an ice cream cart in MGM, and the second was a pretzel/Slushie kiosk at Epcot- but the second was due to an inexperienced CM who couldn't scan the card. I was holding up the line, so I just gave her cash instead.

We really liked using the GC- on every receipt, it would give us the total amt still left on the card. Very handy for budgeting souvenirs, etc.

A tip- you can get replacement GCs if they are lost or stolen, as long as you have your origional receipt. I kept ours in my backpack, away from my wallet. I didn't have to use them, but it was nice to know that I could get a new card if I needed.

Yep! We just used one last week to buy water, drinks with dinner on the DDP, souvenirs from the parks and a couple of random toiletries from the resort! It was easy to use & we didn't encounter any CMs who were confused how to use it.

we have two gift cards that our children got us for mothers day and fathers day and we plan on using ours in a few weeks......
We did have some last year too and we used them at the big Mickey store in DTD and also for our dinner at Le Cellier........

Can you turn in the gift cards for payment onto the resort keys and then use them in the park to charge?

I signed up with Cashduck and sunshine rewards and now have over $200 in Disney gift cards!
