Using a Code on a Paid Vacation

Can you call and apply a code to an existing reservation if you are paid in full? If so, do they just refund the money to you or what? Just curious as to whether to hold out on paying the full amount until the last minute just in case a code becomes available. Thanks!

In 2005 a code came out about 40 days before we left. They wanted to just leave it as charging privleges on my account, but I wanted it back on my credit card. She said she could, but it would take awhile. I finally had to call after we got back because the credit never posted. The lady at CRO was so apologetic and said she would do it that day. It showed up 3 days later.

We had absolutely no problem getting a refund for our upcoming trip. We had it paid in full and then the August code came out so they refunded it the same day I called. Maybe it is who you get but CRO was great when I called.

That is my thought as well

ETA: Last year the code for our trip came out in late August and we were going the week after Thanksgiving so we were paid up yet.

I had just paid in full our trip when 4 days later I got a code. The CM gave me the refund and said that it would go through in about 3 days but I might not see it on my bank statement for a billing cycle. It was there the very next billing cycle, dated the day I had requested it. No problems.
