We are ripping up our carpet soon and since we live in FL know we will find some mold/mildew (the place until 2 years ago was closed up for 6 months a year) and asked around as to what to use. Bleach was mentioned, but I am allergic and didn't want to use it around my dog. So I was told to use white vinegar, thus far it's worked GREAT in the shower!
My favorite is to boil some in the microwave to get rid of food smells. It also wafts into the kitchen so it is great to do after cooking stuff that lingers.
Another fave is drain clearing/cleaning.
Put about 1/2c baking soda in the drain and pour 1/2c vinegar..it will bubble (you know, like in the grade school science projects!). When bubbling slows, pour a tea pot full of boiling water in.

Another Dis poster said that you can soak a cotton ball in vinigar, then duct tape it to a planter wart. W/I days, the wart turns black and falls off. It was a very long thread where people came back after trying it saying that it worked for them.
i soak DH's underarmor shirts in it. he has to wear them under his police uniform and bullet proof vest and no matter how much you wash them, the under arm odor sticks to them. every once in a while i throw them all in a bucket with white vinegar overnight, then run thru the wash the next day. no more BO! (in the summer when it is worse, i even scrub the underarms wtih baking soda)
