Some good points made by all. All of the above probably had an effect, plus the added element of the unwanted poster. That certainly affects everyone's feelings toward new people. Look how long it took me and San-Man to get accepted as regulars, because of one person that came before us. It's too easy to get suspicious of new people and then we end up not welcoming them in the fold. I'm as guilty as anyone on that point.

Fortunately I don't think there's any severe shortage of goofiness in this bunch, we just need to let it bloom and evolve. We have fewer posts here, but we have more conversations on the chat. Some of us are on Myspace and Facebook, but that may well be sources of new DISers, too, as we find friends that would fit in here.

Let the holidays roll through and enjoy them. We'll still be able to hang out with each other. (And Vick, you're still not going to win!)

I really think the addition of the community thread has had alot to do with the slowing down of the boards. It DOES somewhat prevent new people from finding much of the humor you guys dish out...most come looking for camping info and suggestions, see that a sick bunch of people frequent the boards and end up becoming regulars...now, unless they happen to click on the community link....they miss how much of a fun bunch this is and move on, never giving a second thought to becoming a regular. AND the chatroom has replaced the need for continuous post that used to result in 20-30 pages of what some considered "mindless dribble"...I miss all that mindless dribble as well.
AND GATORDAD NEVER HARDLY POSTS ANYMORE!!!!! So there's not alot of controversial silliness to bicker back and forth over....MAN I MISS THE GOOD OL'DAYS!!!!!!! But I still love my DISbuds.

I'm pretty much mindless, so dribble comes pretty natural from me.
I'm sure everyone doesn't want to hit the community board and find my name posted after every single thread,,but hey, I'm lonely ! So if not enough fiends post,,I dribble more.

I just figure with the holidayz, all you fine folk are busy. I mean, I spose most of ya'll fine folk actually have a family and a life (what a great combination !) so it's all understandable.

But there are some "die hards" and "die dribbling"-(me), posting away, so long as ya'll might be reading posts,,throw in a post .( I collect them). If I have more to read , maybe you won't see my face, or my book, or tubes or whatever,, posting as much, cause I'll have more to read.
