Actually it is NOT #67 on that list.
My family is on a tight budget and I already said there is NOTHING wrong, and we have NO COMPLAINTS about this particular motel and have stayed here previously. I just wanted to see what people thought of the REQUEST. It is NOT REQUIRED!!!

I get that you don't have complaints with them.

However, I've been on the DLR forum here for a few years now, and have never heard of this. Therefore, I wonder if it's new. If it's new, then it's either a very misguided effort to conserve *something*, or it's new because of their plumbing and you've just been lucky so far with it.

I personally would not want to stay at a place that had not thought conservation efforts through, had bad toilets, and/or had bad plumbing, and I surely would love it if you would post the name, even though you have no OTHER complaints with them. I don't want to stay there no matter what the reason.

And that's despite the fact that I would have NO problems doing this in another country or very rural (heck, my uncle has the family use an outhouse when we camp on his property!) or old house here; it's done in other countries because their plumbing systems can't handle the extra...

As it stands now, ALL Disneyland Drive motels are out! :upsidedow

:lmao:

My Grandma does that. She swears it helps save the plumbing, and stop clogs. It grosses me out going to the bathroom and seeing a trashcan full of used toilet paper.

That is really disgusting. My mother has a thing about putting tissues and baby wipes in the toilet (not toilet paper)...she says - they are going to clog the toilet- trouble is that she is remember back in the old days when they used those cesspool things in the yards...now it goes in the sewer and there is no problem flushing those!

I'll tell ya GROSS :scared1:

A friend of DS doesn't flush when he pees here - we are all grossed out by this practice and I don't care who thinks this is okay I think it still smells bad

My daughter used to have a friend that would come over when she was younger and crap in our toilet and not flush it!!!!! Man that was gross!!!!

That's disgusting. Unacceptable. I think the hotels these days saying things like, "leave your towels to help us conserve" are just a ploy for the hotel to save $ not to save the earth. It sounds like the same thing, just a different method.

I don't even reuse bath towels at home, sure not going to do it while I am in a hotel on vacation!

Toilet paper is made specifically for the toilet, therefore it breaks down much faster and easier than kleenex, napkins and paper towels and even toddler wipes (baby wipes aren't flushable). THose things can still clog toilets, evn today ;)

I picked other since sometimes those with septic systems will do this to save from having to pump the septic more. brown paper can be flushed but anything else goes in the trash. I would NEVER stay at a hotel that wanted me to do that since I am paying for a working toilet.

Many people still have septic tanks and wells.

Please think about this when you are at other people's homes. I would be very annoyed if I knew people were flushing anything other than tp (I buy brands that are better for septic systems) and waste. My mom has had people try to flush all kinds of stuff at her house including wipes and pads. :sad2: I know some people who dump all their leftover food and things down the toilet. What's wrong with throwing it in the trash? Also, why would you flush tissues? That just seems like a waste of water to me.

I have an aunt who has something wrong with her septic system. It is shared by several houses. Instead of fixing the problem, they throw all their paper into the trash and only flush when someone has pooped. If no one pooped that day, the pee would sit there all day. It is disgusting and smelly.

I have been known to adhere to a modified "if it's yellow... " policy. :rotfl:
My kids are little, so if we're all about to leave the house or they're getting ready to take a bath I will let everyone (or a few of us anyway) go and then just flush once to save water.

Also, when they were potty training I would still use wipes to wipe them and I would throw those in the bathroom trash (I did fold them up)-- since they can't go into the toilet. Our trash cans have lids and I would take them out daily. I keep a very clean house and never noticed a smell issue.

When we went to Peru, we were worried that we would find this common practice really gross. But it was actually fine. There was a covered trash can by the potties, and every single time we came back to any of the hotel rooms we stayed in, the cans had been emptied and fresh liners put in. It was perfectly sanitary.

Now if yucky paper had sat around for a day or more....that would have been different. But it wasn't a problem. I guess it's just what you are used to.

That's nasty.

But aside from that, I don't understand how this conserves water.
It doesn't sound like they are asking you not to flush and if you are flushing, it's going to use the same amount of water, whether or not there is paper in the toilet.

I like this practice. In the event you run out of toilet paper you can always rummage through the basket for some usable corners and such. ;)

It really could be worse. They could ask you to pee in the shower so you can cut down on the flushing :rotfl:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: ...........wait. I thought that's what the magazines were for!
