Use year Newbie

Hubbie and I are discussing buying into DVC. We usually vacation in late September or early October. However as our son gets older, we may have to switch to summer or spring months for awhile. I know once he leaves the nest, we will be back to fall vacations. What contract month should we try for?

Hi Shelly!

I have both an October and March use year - the 11 month window is November and February respectively. But I think that IF you are going to be banking/borrowing points, it's just a matter of finding the best deal either through DVC or resale.

My first contract was DVC on "Magical Beginnings" at Hilton Head; the second was Timeshare Store for VWL. I just wanted the points for cruising and had what I thought were pretty good deals. And what a great time we had 9/28 on the "Magical Mystery Cruise"!

The DVC rules are a bit complex and I'm no expert here, but I think that these DIS Board members and the DVC representatives will be more than happy to assist you with any "technical" questions.

Depending on your expected Spring travel time, I'd consider either Feb, March or April. Preferably the latest one you feel you can get by with.

Yup Rae had a great time on the Mystery Cruise. Now I just need to actually go on the Western Carib. There is a dolphin out there that wants to swim with me!
