I understand that UY means the month in which new points will be alloted, and existing points must be used, but is it the same day of the month for both? I.E If I have a December UY my new points become available on Dec 01, but do I have til the end of Dec to use my existing points, or do they have to be used by Dec 01 as well?

We usually vacation in Dec, so I am thinking Feb/March/April UY might be better for us. Any thoughts on that?

The prior use year ends the day before your new use year begins, so if you have a Dec. use year, points for the prior year expire on November 30 (unless used/banked etc).

As for your use year, I think if you travel in December, you would NOT want a Feb-April use year. If your trip falls through, you would not have much time to bank, etc. I think an August-September would be better.

A Use Year is 12 months. You have 12 months to use, borrow or bank your points. If you bank them, you have an additional 12 months to use them.

December Use Year will begin on December 1 each year and end on November 30 the following year. Any unused points in the current Use Year will expire on November 30.

If you will always travel in December, a December Use Year would work well for you. If you might occasionally travel in October or November an October UY might be a better choice - HOWEVER - unless you will need to cancel reservations, the Use Year will not directly affect you and any will work well for you. UY has nothing to do with when you can make reservations or travel- it would only affect your ability to reuse points returned to your account if you should need to cancel a reservation.

Enjoy! :)
