Our favorite time to go to WDW is in January. Question to the experts: Is there a particular stategy in selecting the best use year time or does it even matter? Suggestions?

Thanks!

The only time Use year matters is if something happens and you have to bank points.

If you travel in Jan and have a Nov use year then if something happens to your Jan trip you have plenty of time to do something with those points.

Now if you had a Feb or March then that would only give you 1 or 2 months to use them or lose them.

Other then that UY really has no other baerings.

Remember also that 30,40 years down the road you may not travel in Jan anymore so keep that in mind as well.

OH and Welcome to the DIS.

When booking a reservation, how does this scenario work:

Lets say my use year is Dec. It's Feb 2007 (11 months out) and I want to book at my home resort for a stay in Jan 2008. Do I have to have the points in my account at the time of booking in order to use them for that reservation? In other words, can I make reservations using points that will be in my account by the time of the stay? Does this question make sense?

Yes you can book on what points you will have at the time of stay ,not time of booking.

Ms is great and will help you with your booking questions as well . They will recomend what is best then the decision is your to make.

Awesome! I also just read how you can use your points for reservations at Disneyland Resort Hotels (we are in Utah) so this makes membership MUCH more useful for us! Of course, WDW is almost no comparison but California is good for a quick trip to get it out of the system. I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to do this, but I'll try to make it happen soon. Very excited.

Thanks for the help.

You may be even more excited if DVC announces that the next DVC resort will be in California, near Disneyland. I'm keeping my fingers crossed - there is supposed to be some kind of announcement coming this month. Hope the rumor is correct.

Best wishes -
