As of right now, the future of US Airways is in the hands of the bankruptcy court. US Airways is asking the bankruptcy court to void all their employment contracts with the unions so they can restructure them. If the court won't void them, US Airways has announced they will have to liquidate starting in early January. If you purchase tickets on them, you probably will be able to transfer your tickets to another airline for a small fee (I believe $50) but you're subject to what the airline will give you, and the flights might not be as good as they were on US Airways. If you want a refund, you can try to contact your credit card company, but again, you're then stuck trying to find comperable airfare on your own, and your refund might be held up because of bankruptcy preceedings. As to frequent flier miles and frequent flyer tickets already purchased, you're basically out of luck. Frequent flier miles are a debt that an airline owes it's customers, but when it comes to priorityduring a bankruptch preceeding, they are pretty much last on the list, and by the time they would get down to pay them, nothing left. So, you are basically stuck there.
