US 17 advice anyone

DH and I are driving from our house to Port Canaveral in Oct. for our cruise on the Magic. Last time we took 95 down and impulsively picked up 17 in GA on the way back. In some ways it was better because we had less traffic and 17 is just 10 minutes from our house. 95 is an hour away. But, we really didn't know where to stop last time and wound up driving farther than we would have liked before stopping for the night on the way back.

So this time I'm planning ahead and could use some advice on places to stop and stretch as well as hotels for stopping on the way or guidebooks/Atlases etc. As it stand now we'll take 17 down to GA and pick up 95 somewhere before Savannah, and use that the rest of the way. And basically just up-end it for the trip home. 95 to GA and then 17 to home.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

You might look at lodging around Brunswick, GA on the way south.

There's an idea. We stopped in Savannah last time, or rather outside Savannah. Looked Brunswick up on our Atlas and its further south than we'd considered, but since we're not wasting an hour by driving up to Emporia to get 95 its definitely worth considering. Thanks
