URGENT - Opticians

My prescription glasses appear to have fallen out of my backpack.
We retraced our steps and checked lost and found, but no luck.

Loosing a new pair of vario focals has not made me the most popular

Looking for advice from folks who have been in a similar position. I need a speedy specsaver/vision express type of place ? Although these were a designer pair I think I will be setting my stall towards the lower end.

All suggestions gratefully received

Oh no I think I'd ask round the staff at your hotel and see where they recommend to go.

Don't forget you'll be able to claim on your insurance for the missing ones.

Walmart on Turkey Lake road and by the Florida Mall both have "vision centres" which may be able to help.

Reid - if you are a Costco member they also have a vision centre, you could try there too.

Good luck Reid, I lost mine in the Typhoon Lagoon main pool last year, someone found them under their foot, unfortuntely scratched. Thankfully I always take a spare pair so I only had to get back to the room.

In 2008 DH's glasses broke. They were insured back home but he couldn't last without his glasses for 2 weeks. We went to a Walmart. They took the prescription from his other glasses and made up a new pair for us in 15 minutes. They cost us less than $100 so DH then had a spare pair when he got home and got his replacement pair.

Thanks for the suggestions. We will try Blizzard Beach again just in case they were found by a CM later in the day.

As my prescription had changed quite significantly I don't have a spare pair.

Hope you found your glasses. They sure are giving you the run around this trip! It's the hassle and the backtracking that wastes so much time. Waiting to hear how you got on.

I have had to accept the jibes from the family that I have lost my glasses.
The Vision Centre in Walmart were really nice but as my prescription could not be met.. it would be 7/14 days to order.. I had to leave without replacements.

Reid, sorry i haven't been online for a few days.

If you can get to Mall of Mallenia - there is a lenscrafters store (i think next to macy's)
they will check your eyes to determine the prescription needed.

I would call ahead before heading over there just to ensure there really is an optometrist on hand to check your eyes.

Perhaps there is also one at the Florida Mall.

If you check the list of stores at the Florida Mall there may be an optician there with an in-house optometrist.

i just checked the florida mall directory - they have a lenscrafters listed...
i would call them to see if they actually exist and have an optometrist on hand to check your eyes.
they typically are able to provide glasses in an hour and at a relatively reasonable price.

Went to Lenscrafters this morning at Florida Mall. Just went for distance rather than vario-focals. 1 hour later I was picking up my replacement glasses.
Paid a bit more than I would have liked but I was happy that I walked out with a pair of specs.
