Uppy, Uppy, Mr. Andy -- Update -- WRAP UP -- Post 1346, Page 90

YAY - nice start. I love airplane flight photos - not everyone posts them.

You two have the nicest smiles - anyone meeting you would feel right at ease!

Looking forward to reading more. :surfweb:

So where was that La Quinta? I see an International Drive sign in the background. Was it a good place to stay or just a decent bed to get you through one night???

Great start, Kathy!

I had to rent a car over the summer and ended up with a Hyundai and was very impressed with it too. I wouldn't mind getting one for my next car either.

You're almost at Disney, I can't wait until you check in at AKL. I saw your preview pictures and know how much you loved it. Looking foward to hearing all about it.

:cool1: Woo Hoo! for arrival! They charge for the internet at O'Hare???? That is majorly cruel! I use FB all the time if I am waiting - burn - to pay for it. glad that your flight and arrival were uneventful. I will have a late arrival in December so I wonder how many pictures I won't take! :rotfl:

I love how excited you look on the plane :goodvibes makes me excited to leave on our trip soon!!

I actually just bought my first new car this year and it is pretty much the same one you had as a rental even the same color I got excited when I saw it :rotfl:

Sounds like your travel day went pretty smoothly! :thumbsup2

I'm hungry for chocolate chip ice cream now....

I will second the PP who said they liked the airport/airplane pictures! I love seeing the different airports and the views from the airplanes.

Glad your travel wasn't delayed or a hassle. Can't wait to read the next installment. :cheer2:

Yay! y'all made it without any complications! :yay: That's always a good way to start off a vacation. Can't wait to hear all about y'alls Disney fun!!!

Yay, You made it to Orlando!!! I have no idea how you slept at all that night, being so close to WDW! Can't wait to read more!:thumbsup2

Off to a great start!

I should never read trip reports that include food pictures on an empty stomach! Now you have me drooling for reubens and chocolate chip ice cream!

Can't wait to read more.:surfweb:

Great start!! Can't wait to read every little thing about your vacation!! :yay:

Thank you.

I love airplane photos too...but usually when I'm not on them.

You are very sweet...thank you for the kind words.

So where was that La Quinta? I see an International Drive sign in the background. Was it a good place to stay or just a decent bed to get you through one night???

I know it was near International Drive and a different one than we stayed at last year. It was okay...nothing spectacular, but clean and comfy for a one night stay.

Great start, Kathy!

Our son bought the Hyundai Elantra and he really likes it!

Yes, O'Hare is like Disney -- where the heck is the free internet? But that is Chicago for you...they rip you off for everything.

Yes, I took the car picture and the LaQuinta picture in the morning because I was tired and I was still not used to Andy's camera. I would have liked to have taken a few more night shots; I never even took pics of our room at LaQuinta.

I love how excited you look on the plane :goodvibes makes me excited to leave on our trip soon!!

Your trip is right around the corner. As much as I dislike...okay, HATE...flying, I get so excited when we are on our way. I can guarantee I did NOT look like that on the way home, nor do I think we took pictures on the plane on the way home.

Sounds like your travel day went pretty smoothly! :thumbsup2

I have to say that ice cream was darn good.

I will second the PP who said they liked the airport/airplane pictures! I love seeing the different airports and the views from the airplanes.

O'Hare is HUGE, but I prefer it over Midway in Chicago becasue the runways are longer (at Midway I felt like the plane just bounced down to land).

Yay! y'all made it without any complications! :yay: That's always a good way to start off a vacation. Can't wait to hear all about y'alls Disney fun!!!

Thanks, Amanda. No complications and that is a good thing since I hate flying.

Sounds like you had a good start to your trip. Looking forward to your arrival at Disney! :)

Thank you; now the real fun begins.

Yay, You made it to Orlando!!! I have no idea how you slept at all that night, being so close to WDW! Can't wait to read more!:thumbsup2

It was okay because I knew we weren't going to the parks until Sunday, but I was anxious to get to AKL. But we didn't go there first thing as you'll see in the next update.

Off to a great start!

I should never read trip reports that include food pictures on an empty stomach! Now you have me drooling for reubens and chocolate chip ice cream!

I'm always hungry and shouldn't read 90% of TR's and dining reviews. :rotfl2::rotfl2: The chocolate chip ice cream was yummy...I think it was Edy's.

There's no better way to start a vacation than with smooth travels. I'm so looking forward to seeing your pictures of AKL.

Yay! Great start!! :yay:

I have to comment - the one of you on the plane excited to be on your way... the guy walking past you in the aisle looks like he's from the Bush family! :rotfl: And also looks happy to be headed to Orlando. :lmao:

The picture of Mark heading to the gate on the people mover belt is really cool! :thumbsup2

We got up at our usual time to go to the office. I left the office at 1:10; I planned on leaving at 1:00, but the boss asked me to help him send an email.

I'm sure that he was lost while you were gone. "Where's that doggone "envelope" icon that Kathy showed me to click?"

We got through security in ten minutes...I was surprised (no full body scans for us).

I got one a couple of weeks ago when I traveled. It kind of tickled.

We still had plenty of time so we decided to share ice cream for dessert (chocolate chip -- my favorite):

That's all the more excited you get for ice cream? I thought you'd be going

We then went to the Avis counter and picked up our rental car for the week. We were upgraded to a full size Hyundai Sonata -- a very nice car which Mark said he would not mind as our next car).

I drove one a while back and agree with Mark....much nicer than I expected.

Looking forward to more!

We sat at the gate and I went on Facebook and the DIS to pass the time. I think O'Hare Airport is one of the few airports that does NOT have free internet; I think I paid $6.95 or something like that.

They could at least give you a coffee with that or something. Sheesh.

"What kind of place charges $6.95 for wireless?"

Some scenery from our flight:

Excuse me ma'am, please turn off all electronic devices until we've reached our cruising altitude. :rotfl2:

I read somewhere that La Quinta is Spanish for "Next to the Denny's". Is that true? :confused3

I'm always hungry and shouldn't read 90% of TR's and dining reviews. :rotfl2::rotfl2: The chocolate chip ice cream was yummy...I think it was Edy's.

Dining Reviews are responsible for more than one "falling off my diet wagon" incident. I left this TR, headed over to Brooke's and she was showing pictures of ice cream cookie sandwiches amongst other diet no no's!

Cannot wait to see the AKL part of your trip!
