Does anybody have any ideas about best places to sit in UC ? We will be 2 adults, 2 children (10 and 6). Also, can you tell me what aircraft is used on the Gatwick-Orlando route so I can check the seating plan ? Thanks.

Go to www.v-flyer.com for info on the seats.
the aircraft used are 747-400's with 14 UCS downstairs at the front of the aircraft, hence the "once you turn left, you never want to turn the other way again"

6A & 6K right at the font are the best for kids, they are the closest and no-one in front of them.
so 7A & 7K for the adults.

We always go for 6A & 6K and 7A.
just remember that there are no overhead lockers abouve these seats, so get on early to bag the lockers over row 8 <grin>

I am sure that, like our 3 yeaqr old, your children are well behaved, but as its a small cabin, the other people can be a bit techy about things that would be acceptable in economy, if you get my drift... :-) :-)

Hey thanks - that is really useful info. Do they operate the new suite on this route ?

We're going on 3rd June next year and according to the website the Upper Class Suite will be in place then. The Virgin Atlantic site is very good and can probable answer all you want to know.

You also qualify for a free beauty treatement at the airport - there's a list of the treatments on offer on the site.

I have to agree with the previous poster about tolerance - as we're paying so much to go first class I really hope all the people in the cabin space are well behaved whatever age they are!!

All 747 aircraft have now been converted to upper class suites (was finished last December)
get to the airport as early as possible to enjoy the Clubhouse. there is a cinema room, Tv room, library, free computer & internet access,(as well as some supeb pens you can take away) a video games room, a superb shoe shine guy, as well as the beauty treatments, the haircut and scalp massage for men is truly superb, as is the sensational shave. As well as the standard breakfast food, there is hot food, from traditional breakfast all the way through to a superb salmon and scrambled eggs concotion.
all the drinks you want, of course. i will post some pictures at some point
I will let you find the interesting thing about the toilets :earsboy:
At Orlando, you have use of the Delta room, which is OK but no food.
The priority boarding at gatwick is a little haphazrd, and you have to push your way forward, but at orlando, its a dedicated line.
Don't forget on the way back to take your sleep suit home with you. it is truly a lovely way to fly, the take off is a little weired as you do not have to be "seats in the upright position for takeoff" like the economy section, its quite fun taking off at an angle
