We have a trip booked for 3 of us to stay in a studio which will cost me 97 point. My neighbors are wondering if they could go with us and have us upgrade to a two bedroom villa and they would pay the extra money. Is that even possible? We took them with us last year and borrowed points from this year so we can only afford a studio with our points this year without borrowing from next year which I do not want to do.

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

You might be able to get someone to transfer the number of points you would need to upgrade to your account and have your friends pay for the points. That would allow you to upgrade to a 2 BR if one is available. You cannot upgrade and have difference paid in cash as far as I know. You should figure out how many points you would need and let them know approximately what it will cost before you contact anyone though. You could also look into using your points for however many days they would cover a 2 BR and have your friends book the next days for cash(could be a real shock to them). You could possibly get a member discount if any are available for your time frame and room size which would save a little. You make the reservation and they pay for it. You could then link it to the other days so you don't have to change rooms.

The above is good advice. I would see if there was a discounted studio available and book it for your friends and if need be to get the discount put yourself in that room.

To do the points you would have to get the extra points you need and then book the room . Wouldn't want to pay for the points to find out there wasn't anything available. Of course you could check before renting more points but things may change by the time your done.

Thank you for the info. I will look into these options. We are pretty new to the DVC and your help is greatly appreciated!!

DVC had sent out an email recently offering DVC members discounted cash rates for reservations at Saratoga and Old Key West, you may want to look into the cash rate for the 2 BR or a separate 1 BR that you can book for your friends. Also if you have an Annual pass you can get the discount.
Check with DVC about the participating dates for this offer.

Or you can suggest that they rent a reservation from a DVC member and pay for it directly themselves. Takes you out of the picture without having to worry about them changing their mind in the end.

I like Deb&Bills idea the best. These folks sound like they want to "use" your DVC as much as you do. Maybe they should be buying their own contract.

I dont remember getting the email regarding cash discounts at SSR & OKW. Can someone please fill me in on that offer? Thanks.
