So if we need to upgrade to a MOD to get Free Dining...

Where will you go ????

I LOVE POP... Can't decide on another place to stay...

I guess maybe CBR... Hopefully the construction will be done....

I just can't decide and need to have a plan B just in case.

HI, I have never stayed in a moderate myself..only deluxe and value.
This September, we are staying at POFQ. We are hoping we can just add the free dining to our existing ressie.

I looked into all the mods..we picked POFQ because its a "small" resort, it has a great pool with a slide for the kids, you can take a boat to DTD, and the theming looks really cool.

CSR has never appealed to me, I guess my second choice would be CSR.

I stayed at POR in Feb. We were only there for 3 days, but what I say I liked! CSR is also a favorite of ours. Their food court is amazing! The prime rib is yummo!

I may be wrong and hope I am, but I've got a feeling our offer is going to be the same as the UK's offer and that a Moderate or above will have to be booked in order to qualify for free dining. We've gone the last three years and used free dining at a Value. It's a fantastic deal at a value resort. You get a room and meals for four people (talking four adults here if your kids are teenagers) for around $79.00/night. No way can you feed a family of four for $79.99/day (and that's not even counting the room). No way was Disney making any money on that deal. Paying rack rate for a moderate resort, people will have to think about which is a better deal, (value at rack rate and buy the DDP, or moderate/deluxe with a room discount, then pay OOP for food, or moderate/deluxe rack rate and free dining).

As far as your original question, in anticipation of a Moderate or above being required we have already booked PORS with one day park tickets. The CM tried to talk me into going ahead and getting the DDP saying that as an AP holder I was now able to get it without having to purchase the one day tickets. If free dining doesn't come out, we'll cancel the pkg, buy another DDE card, hope for an AP discount, and then have to decide what we want to do about food and if we want to downgrade to a Value or stay at PORS. The only reason I picked PORS really is because it is the only moderate I've never stayed at.

POFQ: smallest resort, first pick up and drop off for the buses, boat to DTD
CSR: best bus service, best food options, but too many conventioneers running around in suits
CBR: worst bus service, too BIG, worst food court (would rather stay at a Value and pay for the DDP)

This will be our third trip in Sept. We have stayed at the All Star Movies and CBR both time with Free Dining. 1st time around I booked ASM ressies and then code came out and called and had my price adjusted. 2nd time the code was already out and decided since we are saving on meals, lets up grade to CBR.

My kids really liked the ASM better than the CBR because of the theme and asked to stay there again. I decided to try the POP this time, if it is required for us to change resorts to a MOD I am unsure where we will stay. I will probably try something other than the CBR because I would like to stay somewhere different. I guess I will cross that bridge if I need to.

Was this the first time the UK offer included the moderate or above catch to free dining or was that done in previous years?

I think all levels of resorts will be included in FD if it is offered. AFAIK, the UK restriction was set by the travel agents in the UK (who make commission) and not by WDW. The values have been included in the FD promotion since 2005, and I don't think that will change now.

I'm hoping that FD will be offered soon so we all know the details. :surfweb:

Currently, we are booked at POP...2 adults...if you have to take a Mod or deluxe to get free dining I will upgrade to a mod...I priced it out, our package at POP w/preferred room for 5 nights, 6 day park hopper tickets is approx $1095...add dining and it comes to approx $1400...at a mod it would cost approx $1400 for 5 nights (standard room), 6 day park hopper tickets...we are going with or without free dining, so my thoughts are (if they do offer free dining) why stay at a value (and pay for DDP) paying the same price I would at a mod with FREE dining? We have stayed at both values and mods...It is an adults only trip so we would enjoy the ambiance more at a mod...I am going to try for POFQ if mods are required... if there is not availability there for the week I want, I will try for POR. April 7th, come on baby!!!:woohoo:
