I may be wrong and hope I am, but I've got a feeling our offer is going to be the same as the UK's offer and that a Moderate or above will have to be booked in order to qualify for
free dining. We've gone the last three years and used free dining at a Value. It's a fantastic deal at a value resort. You get a room
and meals for four people (talking four adults here if your kids are teenagers) for around $79.00/night. No way can you feed a family of four for $79.99/day (and that's not even counting the room). No way was Disney making any money on that deal. Paying rack rate for a moderate resort, people will have to think about which is a better deal, (value at rack rate and buy the
DDP, or moderate/deluxe with a room discount, then pay OOP for food, or moderate/deluxe rack rate and free dining).
As far as your original question, in anticipation of a Moderate or above being required we have already booked PORS with one day park tickets. The CM tried to talk me into going ahead and getting the DDP saying that as an AP holder I was now able to get it without having to purchase the one day tickets. If free dining doesn't come out, we'll cancel the pkg, buy another DDE card, hope for an AP discount, and then have to decide what we want to do about food and if we want to downgrade to a Value or stay at PORS. The only reason I picked PORS really is because it is the only moderate I've never stayed at.
POFQ: smallest resort, first pick up and drop off for the buses, boat to DTD
CSR: best bus service, best food options, but too many conventioneers running around in suits
CBR: worst bus service, too BIG, worst food court (would rather stay at a Value and pay for the DDP)
