Upgrading to AP from UT ticket

If I wanted to buy a ticket from Undercover Tourist and then upgrade it to an Annual Pass at the park (after using it for entry to lock in the current price), which ticket should I purchase to maximize my savings?

which ever one at the time gives you the most discount off gate price but has a full gate price less than the AP you want.

I think I have read people getting a seven day with NE and or WPF&M having the best discount and its gate price is about $3 less than a regular AP.

I believe you are correct. That one would has the highest savings of any ticket that normally costs less than an AP.

If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in this Forum, especially Post #18, you can see the gate prices. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature.

Make sure the ticket you will be upgrading from is less than the price of the ticket you are upgrading to. The chart does not include the 6.5% tax.

Then look for the UT ticket which provides the best savings from Gate which does not exceed the ticket you are upgrading to.

7 day NE with WPF&M gives you the best bang for your buck.

But avoid the hassle and don't try and upgrade at AK guest service. For real- any other park will do

2 things happened during my 2009 trip.

1. I tried to add Park Hoppers at AK to the tickets I got through Expedia. They told me I couldn't do it because of how I acquired the tickets.

2. I joined DVC. Which, as I just remembered, gives me a discount on the AP. Time to recalculate.
