Have any of you upgraded your MYW tickets to an AP at check in?

I have been told that was possible but am unsure of the process.

Do you upgrade at your hotel or do you have to do this at the parks?

You go to customer relation's window at the park. We easily upgraded our passes a few years ago. We had not used any days on the tickets and got full face value of the ticket off of our AP's. Be sure every adult who is trading in a ticket has ID because they asked us for our driver's licenses.

Thanks! So, you don't have to do anything special at check in... right?

You just do the normal routine and then upgrade your tickets at the park...

sounds easy enough!

Thanks again :)

Correct... unless you are booking with AP rate then you should upgrade before you check in. It was painless. You can also now puchase the DDE (disney dining experience) card at customer relations. You save 20% on food and beverages (including alcohol). I don't think you can use it for counter service. I think it is now $60 but if eat TS it is a good deal.

Thanks so much!

I plan on returning for sure in December.

Is the first and second week of December a time when I can expect to receive an AP discount and is it significant?

I really appreciate your help :)

In the past there have been decent AP rates in Dec. We haven't been to Disney in Dec for 3 years and I can't remember the percent of discount. Maybe someone else can help out with the amount. I am hoping for one this year too. :wizard: Good luck!

Thanks for all your help.

Do any of you know how long of a process it is to upgrade at Guest Services at the park? I read something about finger scans etc.

Thanks again :)

Since you can now have the DDP with an AP this may have changed, but...
when we went last December I had planned on changing our tickets to APs. First, you absolutely have to do it at Guest Relations at one of the parks. We tried to upgrade at check in and with guest relations in the hotel. Second, and most importantly for us, they told us if we upgraded at the beginning of our stay we would lose the DDP we had attached to our MYW tickets. We had the girl double check with someone in the back to be sure and they said the same thing. We could upgrade on our last day in the parks however (on our way out) and get full credit for what we had spent on the tickets (something about 14 days they keep their initial value). Well, we (both parents and both toddlers) got violently ill with a stomach flu and we left early without even going back to the parks the last day. It was then XMas right after we got well and I forgot all about it until right after New Years when it was too late to even call and upgrade. So sad. We lost a lot of money on that trip between not getting the AP tickets and not using half our TS and CS credits, as well as none of our snack credits. We had planned to go to DTD to use our snack credits on our way out of town. As it was, we were lucky to be able to drive home we were so sick!

Anyway, all that rambling was just to say it may cause a problem with your DDP. Just so you are aware. Maybe you can email and find out before you go so you don't waste any time at guest relations if you can't. Good luck!

Wow! That was RoTteN luck!

I don't have DDP so that won't be an issue. I do have a MYR package but that's it.

I have the waterparksw added on but I think I just want a basic AP plan.

So sorry to hear about your bad luck!

Debbie

Thanks OP for asking this question as DH and I have MYW tickets, and the DDP for our up coming trip.
I am thinking of suprising him with AP's as an upgrade from our package. My question is, how do I know how much the tickets are in the pacakge?
Thanks ya'll! Jennifer

You can see what ticket prices are on the Disney Website... Just select the Tickets Only package on their website

Some additional info, since you have the WP&M add-on, but only want to upgrade to a regular annual pass.
If you have used any of your WP&M options on your MYW tickets, then you will only be able to upgrade to a Premium Annual Pass. If you have not used any of those options then the price can be credited to a Regular Annual Pass.
