Upgrading to an Annual pass Questions

Hi, I believe this has been answered but I have a few more questions.

I have a 5 day park hopper I purchased from UT that I'm thinking of upgrading to an annual pass when I get into the parks. I understand that the CM should be able to bridge the ticket and I pay the difference. When I do that do I get something instantly there to show that I'm an Annual pass member like a new Magicband, Band slider, or card? I'm wondering because one of the big benefits for me is free parking since I'm offsite. Also how does Photopass work? Can I instantly start using the service or is there a waiting period? would I get something also to show that I have that or is it attached to my Magic band?

I am going to piggyback on this question to also ask if this can be done with regular 5-day tickets? I basically need someone to walk me through it as I am very confused over the whole upgrading to AP.

The MBs we had just 'became' APs when we upgraded our 8 day hoppers as recall. We went to AK, did our touring there and on the way out we hit Guest Services and did the deed. Be sure to have your driver's license or other photo ID with you when you do it. Every ride that has photos will automatically put your pic on Photo Pass, walk up the the PP photographers, they'll scan your MB and take your pic.

The MBs we had just 'became' APs when we upgraded our 8 day hoppers as recall. We went to AK, did our touring there and on the way out we hit Guest Services and did the deed. Be sure to have your driver's license or other photo ID with you when you do it. You'll get a passholder card when you upgrade, it's yellow. That's what I show when we park. Most of the time they don't scan it, they just look at it and flag you thru for parking. The photopass is immediate and is linked to your mb. I also show the yellow passholder card and license to use the discount when shopping. Don't forget there are a few restaurants that you also get discounts at as well as mini-golf.

All that being said, I had a terrible experience upgrading at the ticket window at the transportation center at MK. My advise is to go to guest services in the park.

You'll be able to order new magic bands thru MDE, you won't get those until later. They come with the sliders.

We weren't given these last Oct and didn't know to ask for them. I will next time and this year we'll be finishing up those APs so I'll get our cards when we get there because I think you need these to get the various discounts offered to AP holders.

That's weird - I just upgraded and got these last friday. When I upgraded before it was in the box with the magic bands, it was in the bottom. I'm sure you can get one if you go to Guest Services. It makes it easier to use those I think. I'm sure they could technically scan your magic band as well.

Thank you for all the helpful responses! So if my first day is in MK i can go to guest services outside or inside the park to upgrade to an annual pass. This would also qualify for the new AP promotion correct?


Should i upgrade first thing when i get to the park or on the way out? We are eating at skipper canteen so im thinking i would want to upgrade before eating there to get the discounts

I would go to Guest Services just outside of the main turnstiles, to the right of the entrance. Yes it should qualify for the extra month. I would upgrade on your way in to get your discount at Skipper Canteen.
