Upgrading old tickets (from 1986)

I was at the vet today and the receptionist stated that she was going to WDW in February. She said that she still had two unused one day passes from their last trip in 1986.

I know that old tickets never expire and they can still be used today but my question is can they be upgraded from one day passes to multi day passes? If so, what do they charge? The original 1986 price or the modern 2015/16 prices?

1. I know that old tickets never expire and they can still be used today but my question is
2. can they be upgraded from one day passes to multi day passes?

1. Correct.
2. No.
If the old ticket has never been used at all, then it can be traded in and its original selling price can be used to help purchase a new ticket of any kind.

However, with a ticket that old, it is far move valuable to use, as-is, for a one-day trip to WDW than as a trade-in, due to its very low (by today's standards) original selling price.
