I posted this on another board but thought I'd try here also.....

I would like to convert our 7-day hoppers (AAA discount) to AP (with DVC discount). I know I must do it at Guest Relations. I read that you will not lose the AAA discount when upgrading if the ticket has been used. If it is a completely unused ticket, the discount may be lost. So wouldn't it be logical to use the ticket one day and then upgrade to AP or am I not seeing something?

Any help is appreciated!!

I am not sure what you mean by "lose the discount"?

When you upgrade your hopper tickets, whether or not they have been used, the original purchase price value on the tickets for the park days will be applied to your AP upgrade. DVC discount will be applied to the AP, be sure to have your Blue Membership DVC card with you and proof of residency for any immediate family members in your household whom you are purchasing AP's for.

There will be no AAA discount on the AP, just the DVC discount price.

Hope this helps.

I've had the question about the discount too. I'll try to explain it better.

If you buy a discounted MYW ticket and then want to upgrade, how does Disney credit you? Lets say that the ticket straight from Disney costs $200. If you buy it from AAA or a broker it costs $180.

Does Disney know you only paid $180? Is there some way for them to tell? Or do they just credit you $200 toward the upgraded ticket.

Yes, the value is encoded into the ticket. You will only receive the money you actually spent on the tickets.
