Upgrading from 10 day to AP before Arrival?

My friend has a 10 day ticket but then decided to extend her trip and wants an annual pass. She wants to book FPs for her whole trip, but it won't let her book past the 10th day because her ticket is only 10 days ... Can she upgrade before her arrival or is she just out of luck for getting good FPs for the whole second half of her trip?

I've read from many posts that they won't do the upgrade to AP until the guest arrives.

Another set of "special circumstances" that the FP+ rules don't handle very well.

Upgrades to AP's can only be done in person at the parks. She is better off keeping the 10 day pass until arrival anyway because she gets 10 FP, as opposed to 7 FP with a AP. she won't lose the FP's when she upgrades. I plan on doing the same thing on arrival. I think that our only option is to use the FP's and then add new ones, day by day, as you get down to 6 FP days left. If she is going at a non peak time, she should be fine doing it that way.

1. Yes... until she arrives.

2. That is only the case if not staying at a WDW Resort for a given trip.

3. Correct.

The below is how I understand AP use IN CONCERT WITH a WDW Resort stay...

4. After upgrading to AP a guest can THEN book as many FP+ days as
are left in the WDW resort stay.
So, if the resort stay is 15 days and the original 10-day ticket allowed 10 days of advanced FP+ bookings, as soon as that 10-day ticket is upgraded to an AP, the guest can then book the remaining 5 days of FP+ all at once.

Otherwise, WITHOUT a WDW Resort stay, an AP holder can only book 7 advance days of FP+ at a time,
and then adding one additional day at the end of using each day of FP+. (7 "rolling" days of advance FP+ at a time.)

I didnt lose anything when I upgraded at the park. EVERYthing was turned over to the AP.
