Upgrading DVC WDW AP to Premier Pass?

Now that we know that there will not be a DVC member discount for the premier pass, I was wondering if anyone knows what the upgrade price will be for someone holding a Walt Disney World AP with DVC discount. I wonder if they will give you credit for what you actually paid (essentially wiping out the discount all together) or if they will give you credit for the full undiscounted value of the WDW ticket. It seems that with discounted park tickets and upgrades, they sometimes give you the full value and sometimes the discounted value.

I plan on going to Disneyland in September and was thinking of using my current WDW AP and the Give a Day voucher that I will have by then to upgrade to a Premier Pass.

I know that the pass just came out but I'm hoping someone knows a little more about it. I do wish it came at a Standard and Deluxe level, since I really don't use the waterparks/DisneyQuest features and wouldn't see the most value from the Deluxe part of it -- however the ability to visit both coasts would be great.

I am interested in the answer to this question, too. I wonder if they will prorate the price for the upgrade if you only have a few months left on your WDW AP?

Excellent question although I want to upgrade mine to Premium only for the last month of my AP. I have not been able to get an answer direct from Disney. They are sending my email question all over, but no one actually answers the question.

Since WDW standard APs require the full price different when upgrading to a WDW PAP, even if there are only a couple of months left, I doubt they would pro-rate it based on time remaining.

As far as paying the difference between a WDW ap and the US Premium pass, it will be interesting to see, as they do allow a MYW ticket to be upgraded to an AP by just charging the diffence in gate price, even if he MYW was purchased from a discounter.

This was the answer on the blog when someone asked about upgrading.

"Thanks, Christopher. If you currently hold an Annual Pass you’ll be eligible to upgrade to the Premier Passport. You’ll pay the difference between the retail price of your existing pass and the Premier Passport price. Expiration date will remain the same as the initial annual pass. Also, upgrades can be done at Guest Relations at either site."

I guess it depends on how motivated they are to get folks to try/convert to this new product.
Faced with a decision to pay the full cost difference for a pass that would expire (in my case) in 6 months or buy a new DL AP outright that would expire in 12 months for about the same cost, I would most likely just elect to buy the DL pass.

I've had a WDW AP and a DL pass with the blackout dates at the same time. Current price $414 + $269. So it would be close to $700 and have more benefits.

Just a question for the OP- I thought you could only use one current pass to upgrade- so were you told you could use BOTH your WDW and the "value" of your GADGAD ticket to upgrade to the Premium pass?

I was told that I could use my DL PAP and my unused MYM ticket to upgrade to the premier. This is awesome in case they make us buy length of stay tickets for free dining- I'll just upgrade the day I get there. My premier pass will expire in december :sad1:, but I won't be paying for my tickets for 11/28-12/4.:thumbsup2

So, two days ago my DH received a letter from Mickey Mouse that contained his new Premier Passport which expires in Jan 2011 (for some reason, I thought our WDW passes expired in Dec--but I went back and checked and they actually expire in Jan 2011). :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
(DH had a deluxe AP at DL expires in Aug and a regular AP at WDW expires in Jan 2011)

It's funny, because I had a premium AP at DL that just expired a few days ago in addition to my WDW AP that expires in Jan 2011--so I missed the automatic upgrade by that much!

Has anyone found out the amount applied when upgrading a standard WDW AP with the DVC discount?

I have been researching this myself. The Premier Passport is around $725 with the taxes. I paid $366 for my standard WDW AP in October. So the upgrade cost would be around $359.

I'm taking a trip to Disneyland in January of next year, and I'm considering doing this. I will only upgrade if I can use the value of my GAD ticket to the cost of the upgrade.

DW and I both hold AP's to Disneyland and WDW. She received a premium AP in the mail on Tuesday, and I am still waiting for mine. We didn't pay anything, and we only had a Deluxe AP at Disneyland instead of a Premium. We do have a Premium AP for WDW.
