Upgrading a park hopper to an annual pass question

Hello people of the DIS. It's been a long time since I have posted here but know someone will be able to help me. I have six six-day park hoppers that I purchased directly from Disney for a trip next month. They are non DVC hard cards (not magic bands as we are renting a house in Reunion due to the size and makeup of my group). I have decided that I want to upgrade these to annual passes. Will the full value of what I paid for these passes apply to the upgrade? Can I do this online or by phone in advance of arrival? I tried searching the forum but could not find what I was looking for. Thanks for any help. I got away from visiting Disney for about five years in favor of other places and all of the changes in policies and procedures since my last visit are kind of vast!

Yes, since your tickets are directly from Disney and presumably are not package tickets, what you paid is what will be credited towards the upgrade.

No, the upgrade can only be done in person.

Be sure to use the park hoppers to enter a park before upgrading. If you bought the tickets before the last price increase, you will actually get credit for more than you paid for them.

Tickets purchased from a 3rd party (like UT, Parksavers, TicketsAtWork, etc), or as part of a package, are price bridged.

Stand-alone (non-package) tickets purchased from Disney at gate price, or what was gate price, are not price bridged.

Despite how folks make it sound on these boards, price bridging isn't a complicated procedure and the computer usually won't let you do it when you're not supposed to, at least not without a complicated work-around that most people don't know how to do, because we're really not supposed to unless instructed by a coordinator or leader. And the rules for when you do it and when you don't are pretty clear - any CM in a ticket booth can open their ticketing documentation and clarify if they aren't sure. (Whether or not they do this is a different story.)

If you are charged for parking, just save your receipt and show it when you do the AP upgrade.
The CM will refund your parking fee.

Yes, they CAN be.

Tickets bought as part of a WDW Resort PACKAGE (tickets and room combination price) are considered to be "discounted" tickets and not considered tickets that were "bought directly from Disney."

Yes, those tickets can be bridged. The only ones that can not be bridged are tickets bought directly from Disney on a stand alone basis, not part of a package. If part of a package, they can be bridged.

Upgrading is such a pain to figure out. So I will ask my question. We have 6 day passes for a trip in April. We bought DVC so we will be DVC members before we go. We plan on upgrading these 4 - 6 day passes to AP. Now for this package we are getting the 6th day free. So do we use them first or upgrade before we go in. And I am guessing we will only get the 5 day price to go towards the AP. And last will we get the price we paid or the new price?

Right now I have budgeted. $584.68×4(Cost of 4 gold AP with DVC)−$1383.43(cost of 5 day txt)=$955.29

Am I Right?

Use them first. You will get 6 day new current pricing credited to AP cost. There are no real free day ticketing, 'free' day is marketing from wherever you purchased them.

Take current DVC AP pricing minus 6 day ticket for the difference you will pay.

1. I don't know. FROM WHOM did you buy the tickets, when and how.
If they are from a ticket discounter, then use them at least one time, first.

1. That can be a very dangerous thing to do. It will be a great advantage for you to KNOW in advance
exactly how much the upgrade should cost.

2. Any ticket booth or Guest Relations... outside any park, or at TTC or at two locations in DS/DTD.

As Ravenclawtrekkie had said, you absolutely do not need to use your ticket before upgrading (which is widely spread misinformation on this board). Just know the price of a 6 day ticket and the pass you are buying. If the cm says it is more, make sure the upgrade the ticket to itself first (they will be able to see if it is discounted...and upgrading it to itself brings it to the gate price). Even if you use it first, you still have to make sure it has been brought to gate price. Using it does not automatically do that.
