upgrades?

I've been reading alot of threads where people have gotten free room upgrades... I have never gotten one (sad) and I was wondering how this happens. Do people maybe ask when they check in or does the CM just say "hey guess what... UPGRADE!!" We are staying at AKV this coming october and we are staying in a value studio... due to the amount of time we are actually in the hotel we dont need a savannah view but it would be a nice surprise. What are the odds??

(dont get me wrong i'm not looking for a freebie i'm lucky enough to even be going i was just wondering)

internet messageboards distort the expectations of upgrades...it doesn't happen as often as it seems to from reading the DIS. if you are staying on points at AKV (renting or as an owner) there is even less of a chance of an upgrade, due to the nature of timeshares.

on the bright side, many of the value studios do have a savannah view (value studios are just a little smaller than standard-sized studios.)

That is awesome info... i figured that value studios were smaller (which is no big deal only two of us anyway) and that they viewed the parking lot. This is awesome news! I also checked out that other thread you put in the post and i saw where the value studios were located and I am psyched! Thanks so much for the info you just made my day!
