I have noticed that our next cruise seems to be more popular than some surrounding weeks. I also noticed that on cruise-locator.com and expedia.com there are only "GTY" status for our category, while there are numerous specific rooms available for higher categories. We booked this cruise long ago.
That leads to the question: If there are 50 category X rooms, and 75 people purchase that category, would DCL upgrade those who booked earlier, or paid more, or those who did not specify a cabin number? I have heard anecdotal info that you can be upgraded with an assigned cabin, and that some very early bookers are upgrades and also that very late ones are upgraded, so I don't know a real rhyme or reason. Is there one?
By the way, this is more curiosity and not any sense of entitlement! I can't complain about anything because the price has increased tremendously since we booked, and I can see some logic to upgrading someone who paid a couple of thousand more dollars.
