Our last stay in a studio our daughter was only 10 months old and not used to sleeping in strange places (or a pack-n-play for that matter). Suffice it to say that the first night of our stay did not go so well. I think she finally fell asleep around 3:00AM. My wife was ready to go home right then and there, but we stuck it out. The second night, after a full day in the parks, went much more smoothly. She was asleep by 11:00PM. So I guess the moral of the story is don't let your first night discourage you. It should get better.
On a related note, I have seen fathers out walking their children in a stroller around OKW in the middle of the night. I would imagine this was so the other members of the family could get some sleep while the baby settled down. Some babies will fall asleep better in a moving stroller and then you can simply wheel them into your room and leave them in the stroller next to your bed.
