We have 2 nights at YC booked on reservation points (bad use of points I know, had to use.....long story). Anyway, I know DVC members can't be upgraded for DVC stays, but what about Disney Collection stays such as this? Curious.
I don't think so. A few years ago we booked a stay at the CR on points. We also added a few nights using the AP rate. They were two different category of rooms, but both in the South Wing. When we asked if we could just stay in the same room for the entire trip, we were told no. DVC reservations are fixed and not upgradable.
We just returned from a 9 day trip which was supposed to be at BCV, but when we checked in they said we were being upgraded for our anniversary. They moved us to a 2 bedroom concierge suite at the Yacht Club. It was really nice!

Back when DVC had "run of the house" rooms, getting top options was common. Now that it's standard, water or club for YC, I doubt you can cross over the lines. You might investigate what's best within the cat you have and then request that. You can always ask to be upgrade but I doubt you have much shot.
yes, we were using points for a 1 bedroom villa. I was really surprised to be upgraded, because I was already staying in a nice room. But concierge was a treat. They also sent us a balloon bouquet and chocolate covered strawberries and cookies for our anniversary.
