(UPDT: 2/21) Losing The Glass Slippers to RUN like a Princess! Serial-PTRer report!

Loooooove the Smashbook idea- so much that I might steal it for my two older ones!

I'm a digital scrapper and recognize the 'print-out' kit you used! :) I own it as well & have scrapped many pages with those same 'embellishments'. (Britt/Salin Studios).

I hope you can get back to running soon. :( You are looking for excuses TO run..while I look for excuses NOT to run! Hahahaha- I'm doing a Mud Run on Saturday. And doing the color run in St. Louis on the 15th! And one at Brookfiled Zoon on the 22nd. (All 5Ks though). I am REALLY struggling building distance up. I'm not distance runner- that is for sure!

Look at you and all your races!!! :thumbsup2 I cannot believe you are running in STL and I'm just 100 miles away. I'm actually headed to STL tomorrow for a dentist appointment for Savannah and lunch with my mom!

Be careful on that mud run! I'm afraid of them, I'm such a clutz, I think I will hurt myself and then not be able to run...oh wait...I already can't run.

I'm cross training right now, trying to stay positive and believe it will heal before I have to start my half training at the end of October.

Hello, hello! Today is 169 days! The girls think it's flying, they were in shock yesterday when I said we were at 170. I guess it would seem that way since I've been counting down with them since at least 335! :lmao:

I got a great idea from Pixiedust530 for Smash books! I have seen Smash books before, but it never crossed my mind to do them for Disney. Basically a smash book is a scrapbook but you smash it all in there! ;) I thought if I got smallish ones, they could use them for journaling, pics, and autographs. These are a little bigger than 5/7 and can be carried around the parks. They come with a pen attached that also has a glue stick on the opposite side and have funky and unique pages inside to decorate.

I bought stickers and printed out some Disney related things that they could cut out and paste in their books. They decided to decorate the covers first.

You can see the actual size of them in this shot. These were called "mini smash books" on Amazon.

smashbooks003.jpg

I had a good time sitting with them, talking about Disney, and listening to music while they decorated!

smashbooks019.jpg

The covers came out SO CUTE! Savannah's is the one on the left, Eleanor's is on the right.

smashbooks005.jpg

They decided to decorate the insides a BIT, but not totally, because that will be done after the trip. We saved all the cutout words and stickers for when they get home and want to add photos and other things from the trip. Some of their pages:

This was funny, Savannah said she was going to ask one of the Princesses to hold a cupcake and take their picture for this page. I dared her to do it...if you know Savannah (very shy) you would know this is a huge dare. We'll see!

Savannah added this to her last page because she said something ALWAYS has to go wrong, so she was just preparing for it!

This took a few hours of our afternoon to do, but I think they really enjoyed it and making their own autograph books/journal/smashbooks made it more personal for them.

Now, if we could just get my injured heel (heel bursitis) healed up, maybe I could train for this half marathon I'm supposed to be running in 171 days!!!!!! :scared1:

Ummm, can I come and relive my childhood at YOUR house. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

Although I would have been a problem child with little patience. :thumbsup2 Lord knows what MY cover would have turned out like.

______________________________________________

LOVE it all, Karen. The pictures themselves were so gorgeous - I had to get off that and look at them all again as to get the actual story. They both did a lovely job.

As for you pushing your heel. :rolleyes1

:lmao: Why yes, Lisa, you should come move in right away! I've been told that this is a pretty cushy place...my 19 year old says there's really no reason to leave, they have it pretty good! I may be in trouble there!

You are cute. I was just on your TR b/c someone posted and it bumped in my subscriptions. Naturally I had to go back to page 4 and scroll through all your beautiful shots again. I stopped to get dreamy-eyed on the Main Street full of runners. *sigh*

Hello, hellooooooo....echo...echo...

It's that lagging time of the TR, between ADR's and 100 day countdowns. We're busy here with fall activities and not much is going on with the Disney planning.

Savannah has been sick, we are having blood work done, the Dr. is thinking anemia or lyme disease.(she was bit by a tick in May and was very sick and some of her symptoms seem to be back) It's freaking me out and last week she was so ill I was having panic attacks and watching her when she was sleeping b/c she was saying she couldn't breathe right. She does seem to be a bit better the last couple days, she just wears down in the evenings. The blood work should be back by the end of the week and hopefully we'll know more.

I am still recovering from my injury, but better enough to finally run, which is good considering I have a mere 157 days until I have to run a half marathon! :scared: Today is 155 days until our trip!

The girls picked out matching shirts a while back and when we were at the mall a couple weeks ago, they came across headbands that matched perfectly! Yesterday they decided to model them for me. I was just going to snap a couple pics, but they had a photoshoot in mind, I think! I've created little monsters! :lmao: You would never know Savannah has been sick from these photos!

Our "Minnie" Photo Shoot. Get it?! :p I crack myself up.

She's been sick but wants to carry Eleanor around and give piggyback rides?!?!? :rolleyes2

I know, not the most exciting stuff, but they really wanted their picture taken yesterday and had a lot of fun...and how often does that happen?!? I had to go with it! ;)

That's it for now. I guess I could start posting park day plans/ADR's. Did I do that yet? I have to go back and look, I don't even remember! Yep, I'm a fantastic planner, just can't remember anything...maybe that's why I plan for so long, so I can do it over and over until I eventually remember? :p

Awww, cute pics of the girls!! Sorry to hear Savannah has been sick- I hope you get some answers soon-

TOtally random question- I see Savannah's hair is curly- my oldest has curly hair as well. Savannah has no frizz in her hair that I can see (compared to my DD) How does she manage that? Is there a product or process that I'm missing that I can try? The ONLY thing I've found tha tworks is flat ironing DDs hair and that takes FOREVER.....

Oh boy, she would laugh at this question b/c she says it's a constant battle with her hair and it's ALWAYS frizzy! It is pretty good the day she showers (Pantene conditioner helps a LOT) but by the next morning it's pretty out of control! We have used Argon? oil in the past with a bit of luck, but it's just gotten a little easier as she's gotten older. I know she says she NEVER brushes it except for right after the shower when it's wet. If she tries to brush it once it's dry it frizzes out, so she just runs her fingers through it (and throws it in a ponytail if needed).

Oh, she also refuses to wash it daily b/c she says that's horrible for your hair and dries it out so sometimes she will just wet it with water to control the frizz...but how is that different??? :shrug

I only wash her hair/wet it every few days as well for that reason... but I have to brush it in the morning because otherwise she looks like medusa with curls sticking up everywhere- at every angle. I've tried the frizzease product line, the serums you can put on, gel, mousse (that seems to be our best bet)... and even just putting it up in a pony frizzies stick up everywhere.

It's our constant battle daily- taming the frizz. We usually lose.

Pretty soon you'll be a dreamy-eyed running Main Street girl! :thumbsup2

LOVED the pictures, Karen. Just gorgeous - the girls and your shots.

I'll be tech-free soon as I'm going to homecoming at my university - for the weekend. But as soon as I get back I need to get back to that blog. Please feel free to harass me if I forget. Cause I want to be over there!

Ooooh, permission to harass!!!! :hyper: It's a good thing I don't have your phone number, I might start texting you multiple times a day! :bitelip:

I hope that Savannah is ok. It is never fun or easy when your kiddo is sick.

The pics are A - Mazing!!!! The girls look like they will be the best of friends for all their lives!!

Do you know I don't even text? :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

But for you, I would. :thumbsup2

This is getting exciting, Karen. :thumbsup2

It's more than getting exciting Lisa, I can barely contain myself! I'm not sure how I'm going to get through the next 148 days! ;)

Thank you! Savannah has a great group of girlfriends, they have grown up together, it's really special. :flower3:

Savannah is feeling better, I'll post what we know in my update here in a bit!

The girls picked out matching shirts a while back and when we were at the mall a couple weeks ago, they came across headbands that matched perfectly!

WHERE did you find those shirts? I would LOVE to get those for my 2 DDs for our trip in October! They LOVE the galaxy-type clothing!

148 days!!!!!!! I think. I seriously have counted it out, written the days on a calendar, used an app, and looked it up online, but I keep coming up with different numbers? My app says 147 days, but when we did our countdown chain (see below) it ended up being a day more? I'm so confused by it. :confused3

In good/more confusing news, Savannah's blood work came back all negative. The Dr. said everything looked good, no Lyme disease, no thyroid problems, no anemia and her electrolytes were good. This is GREAT news but, it doesn't explain the awful symptoms she was/is having. She is MUCH better after 2 weeks, only occasionally having some strange symptoms so the Dr. thinks that this might just be the tick borne illness she had lingering. She said that since it was treated, it wouldn't show up in her blood work, but that it could linger or come back occasionally when she gets sick. I'm just supposed to watch her and make sure it doesn't get worse. :confused3 I still think this is good news that there is nothing terribly wrong, just wish we had more answers.

So, this last Tuesday when Eleanor came for our Disney Day, we made our countdown chain! Why yes, I make 150 day countdowns, doesn't everyone??? :lmao: Actually, in 2011 for our 2012 trip, we did a 180 countdown, so I think I had a lot of self-restraint this trip! :p Just for fun, a picture of her and Leslee, who went with us, with their countdown chain for our Jan. 2012 trip (my livingroom was yellow back then!)

disneychain026.jpg

I printed out all the chain links and we cut them all out. The girls finished up cutting while I started numbering them. I number them so that when we forget a day or two, we don't have to count the whole chain to stay on track! Since I also had a calendar handy with the days counted down, I added my long runs on some of the days. For example: Day 42 I put "9 MILES!"

150daycountdown009.jpg

The girls started stapling the chain and WOW it started getting long!

150daycountdown019.jpg

150daycountdown032.jpg

So long that they started cursing me for this project and got a bit slap-happy about it. I was "torturing them!"...but apparently torture is funny. ;)
150daycountdown035.jpg

Savannah lamenting about how she's going to get blisters on her hands from all this hard work.

150daycountdown041.jpg

They joked about how long and torturous it was, but they had a blast.

150daycountdown065.jpg

I think these faces are supposed to be exhaustion. LOL

150daycountdown093.jpg

Then they had to put it up in the living room!
150daycountdown117.jpg

150daycountdown132.jpg

150daycountdown133.jpg

and, Ed Sheeran had to be in a picture, according to Savannah. He is her favorite singer/songwriter, she's quite the fangirl. I'm not sure Eleanor agrees with this obsession! ;)
150daycountdown148.jpg

It was a really fun afternoon. AND, it is so much fun to see how excited the girls are, especially Eleanor. They did the cutest thing, their own trip planning...

They timed themselves putting makeup on! Eleanor has been warned that I'm a bit of an extremist when it comes to rope drop, so she suggested they practice putting their makeup on really fast! :lmao: I wish I had gotten pics, but I was on the phone at the time. They did it quite a few times, removing the makeup and reapplying...they got it down to 4 minutes! :rotfl2: I just thought was too cute and I have to say that I'm pretty pleased they can get that makeup on so fast...I wait for no one at Disney! ;)

WHERE did you find those shirts? I would LOVE to get those for my 2 DDs for our trip in October! They LOVE the galaxy-type clothing!

I'm nearly certain that the girls found them online at Wetseal and I ordered them. We found the matching headbands at a store in the mall, but I forgot what it was called???

DONE! It takes me a bit b/c I have LOTS OF PICTURES...ahem. :rotfl2:

Might you be referring to the ONE TIME I failed to put pictures in my update?! Really? holding onto that one, eh? :rotfl:

Anyways, I love your chain. It's so weird to still be writing a trip report when I have only 175 more days until Orlando! Playlist is the first 3 days then Disney, baby!! I've already made ADR's!!! That was yesterday. It's Freaky!!! I'm assuming you got the links from the Creative Dis boards? I'll have to go check it out. I definitely want to do something to decorate the windows!
