Hi all. We are heading down just for 2 days to Disneyland, and I am wondering if I should upgrade my pass for the discounts? We plan on eating only in the park, and buying Christmas gifts for a few people. Let's say, we are going to spend 1000 dollars in those 2 days. A 2 day hopper is 260, but the upgrade to PAP is 439? I already have the Florida part so there would be no tax as I understand. With a 20% discount on merch, I think I would just break even, right? So really only worth it if I spend more, or plan to visit DL again before next September. What should I do?

Premier also includes MaxPass and photos.
Most food locations also have AP discounts (not Napa Rose :headache:)
Ticket upgrades cannot combine multiple tickets, so hoppers cannot be combined with WDW AP.

Ooohhh it includes Max Pass??? That's a game changer then. That would be 200 that I would save right there because we would buy it both days for sure.

Don't forget the 15% discount off food! :D Almost all food (except snack carts).
Max Pass (like PP said)
Photo Pass (like PP said)

And a shiny gold card :D

If you’re only upgrading 1 person to premier dont count maxpass towards your savings as maxpass is included for the passholder only. Also $439 seems a bit low for upgrade cost, the premier pass is $1632 after Florida sales tax. The value of your pass is subtracted from that total when doing an upgrade. I upgraded from the DL Sig in July ($1000 pass) and paid $632 and change.

For discounts you get 20% on merch and 15% on table & counter service food; based off your $1000 estimate split evenly you’d save $175 plus $20 for 2 days of maxpass.

It said online the cost of the PAP is 1439, and I have already paid the Florida tax on the 989 right?

Also, we are hoping to win hoppers from school for our jog-a-thon. Will I be able to apply those as well? 169 value or whatever it is for a 1 day hopper?

No. You can’t apply the hoppers.

Not to hijack but I've been wondering if I should upgrade for the reverse reason. I have a Sig (with MP) at DLR that's due for renewal and I may have opportunity to go to WDW next year for a few days- likely 4 days at the most. Looks like I'm looking at about $550 to upgrade which is probably more than I would be spending on my ticket for WDW. Are dining discounts as beneficial at WDW? Are there AP hotel rates at WDW?

Dining discounts aren't as plentiful at WDW as they are at DLR. AP hotel rates are OK, but depending on when you're going, you might be able to get a better deal staying off-property.

However, when is your Signature pass up for renewal? If it is before the WDW trip, then you might as well go ahead and get it. Then you're have Signature Plus at DLR (that's $1149) and then a premium/platinum (forgot their levels) at WDW. You'll get memory maker at WDW, photopass at DLR, free parking (if you end up staying off-site) and you have hoppers. A 4-day park hopper ticket is $485+tax (or more, depending on dates you choose to go, for this example, I chose the first day as April 9, 2019). And with the premier, you also get admission into the water parks.

You should have already paid the Florida Tax on the 989. But the PAP is now $1579 + tax. You wouldn't be able to utilize the hoppers from the school event because those are, typically, complimentary tickets and non-upgradeable.

Thank you for the info. My Signature pass is up in a couple weeks. I'll be at DLR next week so I could do the upgrade then. WDW would be mid February (President's Day weekend. I'm in Orlando for a conference the week leading up to it so I would just stay for the holiday weekend) and would be by myself. I know I'm already too late to get most reservations for anything but as I'm solo I'd probably survive. I was looking at 1 Park/day tix since I've heard its not worth it to get PHs at WDW (I've never been except to a MVMCP last year, also when I was in town for a conference) but maybe that's less true if I'm by myself? I don't think the water parks or memory maker would be a big deal given the dates and that I'd be without the fam. Hmmm....

Am I correct in remembering I can't do monthly payments on a PAP like I can with my DLR AP?

Correct, but this might still work. Get the most expensive pass (signature plus) first with the monthly payment plan. Then upgrade it to the PAP and you would only have to pay for the difference between the S+ and PAP (plus still have monthly payments for the S+ plan).

See if you can get a last minute DVC rental? There's one listed for 2/1 to 2/8 for SSR Studio, but that's a bit too early for President's Day weekend. I would agree that PHs aren't worth it at WDW because it's so spread out. The first time I was at WDW with the premier pass (back when it was $750 for both WDW and DLR), I think I hopped once. The second time, I just got base tickets.

But, maybe the PAP would make you want to go to WDW again? :D

Oh I saw a site that said it was 1439? And that was current. Well shucks, nm it would only be worth it if we plan to go to DL another time next year, which I am not sure we will, though I have always wanted to go for Easter time. If we win the tickets then totally not worth it. I dunno, I guess it also depends on how much shopping we intend to do. So many factors.

I've done a number of solo trips to WDW. You'll probably still be able to get ADRs if you keep checking the website - typically I find that ADRs open up as people change their plans and cancel their ADRs. Sometimes if you can't find a table for 1, try looking for a table for 2 instead as the system sometimes has issues finding a table for 1 but no problems finding a table for 2. I've gotten the "hot ticket" ADRs (CRT, BoG) at about 1-2 months away from my trip as a solo reservation just by checking back on the website again and again. Though might be a bit harder for a holiday period.

I always park hop at WDW and being solo it's very easy to park hop. I typically start in the morning in one park and then move on to another park later in the day. But it depends on what you're like and whether you like moving around (I do). It's definitely harder to park hop at WDW than at DLR, but it's still fairly doable as there is always a mode of transport between the parks (bus, boat, or monorail - and I guess you could also use Lyft/Uber/Minnie Van now).

I also liked memory maker even when solo at WDW. There are a lot more photopass photographers at WDW (with shorter queues!) than at DL, so I found it easy to get lots of photos of myself with things like the castle, spaceship earth, etc. Also great for ride photos.

The Premier AP was $1,439 prior to the price increase in February of 2018, so whatever site you saw, had the old pricing.

Thank you for this- very helpful. I have been toying with hoppers since I am solo and willing to be very on the go in the interest of packing in as much as I can.

I also thought about looking for a DVC rental. We just rented at Aulani and had a great experience so it was on my radar for sure.

Thanks again!
