Here's the taping schedule, CM are not told how long or where or what is taping, just the time they have to be there. They did it by slots:
Nov 9th MK 10am and 6pm
Nov 10th MK 10am and 1pm
Nov 10th Epcot 4:30pm and 7pm
Nov. 11th MK 8am and 12pm
Nov 12th MK 8:30am and 2pm
Nov 12th AK 4:30pm
Nov 13th DHS 10am and 2pm and 5pm
Obviously all of these are subject to change

Ah not bad... 9th only 6 pm will effect...and 11th ... All day there... Interested to see what all happens! Nothing else has been mentioned on possible appearances then?

It was not that they put it up in time FOR the parade taping.
It was that they put it up at a time just AFTER the parade taping.
The parade show used the space where the tree sits for parade production.
So, they could not put the tree in Town Square until after they completed the taping.

That changed last year.

Ahhhh, I see . . makes sense. Last year, we took our trip in October to get in on F&W so that's why we weren't there for the tree. My husband and I saw it when we came down to spend Christmas with our daughter who was doing the CP a couple of years ago, but our friends we travel with in November have never seen it. Sounds like they'll get to see it this year though.

With FOF at 5:00, I assume it will be dark out on the 11th due to EST. Are there any lights on the floats or is the MK so lit up that doesn't matter?

Watching this thread closely. Thanks for all the info so far. My daughter was devastated last year that she missed the cast of Descendants. If anyone sees that they are letting people get tickets, let me know!!!!!

It is never dark in Florida at 5:00.

Sunset is at 5:34 PM on 11/11. So it will be getting dark during the parade.

We watched the 5:00p parade a couple of years ago from Frontierland and it wasn't dark - more dusk-like for those at the Town Square end of the parade.

Are the other days in MK also all day?

All that is known is an all-day schedule for the main media character performers on the 11th.

Also confirming one more schedule change: Move It, Shake It won't be running at all during the MK taping days.

They aren't live. There's no way MK would close off the Castle during Thanksgiving week - it would be pure havoc.
