No to the renewal part of your question. You can only renew if your AP is expiring within 40 days.

I have no idea on the DVC part of your question, sorry.

DVC does offer a $20 off per Deluxe or Premium Annual Pass for DL (for immediate household members). However, you can only receive your discount when you purchase in person at the park ticket booth showing your member ID. I was NOT able to receive the discount online nor for over the phone purchase.

Parking is only included with the Premier and Premium APs. Deluxe, SoCal, and SoCal Select APs holders used to be able to purchase parking as an add-on, but now the AP website on Disneyland.com says "The parking benefit is currently not available for purchase as an add-on" (for new AP purchases).

FWIW, while the Disneyland site has switched to the new prices, Cheaptickets still has the old prices. I don't know how long that will last.

Ouch!!! $80 increase for hubby and I. Geez...why are they nailing us so much harder than everyone else? 11% increase seems a bit much.
We still get our money's worth for how often we go, but dang! I hope the renewal discount stays at $60.00...or, even better, goes up!

The $80 increase really hurts, but if you buy the Deluxe pass and need to purchase just 2 hopper passes during the year, for black out dates, it makes it worthwhile to buy the Premium AP. That 80 bucks is really going to cut in to my churro fund!!

I learned yesterday from cast members about the ticket price increase. I am glad I renewed my AP when I had. It's my understanding also, that food pricing will be increasing. That's unofficial though. Hopefully, that won't happen soon.

I'd assume that this is exactly what they are doing, especially getting rid of the parking add on. Though if they really wanted to thin out the crowds, get rid of the payment plan. That would for sure make it prohibitive for me to go.

MiceAge wrote about this today, and while on occasion I do find them to be a tad over critical, I totally believe they hit the nail on the head about this. It's a good read.

You ain't lyin! Without payment plans, we for sure wouldn't have AP's.

If only my wages went up at the same rate as Disney tickets. I could use a 4-7% increase about every 9 months - and twice in a year every ten years. And I suppose that right when I get my wage increase, I'll shut down about 20 of my responsibilities. I'll also stop wearing a suit and tie and slip into a XXL t-shirt that has a print of a suit and tie on it - it says I'm formal but I also like to party.

FYI: getawaytoday still has the old ticket pricing and will until March 3rd. I know cheaptickets also has the old pricing, but I don't know for how long.

Its not for crowd control, its to maximize revenue.


Most Annual Pass holders these days do not pay for their passes in full when they purchase, instead they opt for the payment plans. With this latest round of increases, for most APs, the maximum their monthly rate will increase is only $6. I highly, highly doubt many people who currently have an AP will let their passes expire over $6 a month more.

If Disney really wanted to control crowds they would eliminate the payment plans. Ever since they introduced those, the AP population has exploded, along with the price.

If 2012 $70-$150 increase to APs didn't discourage people from buying them, this round of increases certainly will not.

Maybe, but if you start to look at it in terms of entire families, then the cost increase isn't necessarily all that small and I do think people do also think about the total increase, not just the monthly increase. However, I think the bigger impact is going to be on folks that were thinking about upgrading to the next level of pass. I do think the change in price of the Deluxe and Premium may cause some folks to have think very hard about whether they want to upgrade or not.

Can you buy annual passes through any agencies besides DL online? I tried our local Safeways but they seem to only sell three day passes. We went away for four days and I missed the messages to buy my APs. I knew I should have jumped on line before we left last Thursday and purchased them. Grrrrrr

I don't think so, at least I haven't seen them. I think way.com used to have them but that has been a while. Last year when I was thinking of getting APs, I found some at the Disneystore that were from before last year's price hike (I ended up not getting them but they would have been a good deal) so that is a possibility, even though some people have reported that stores were clearing out their old-priced tickets. The only other thing I can think of is if you have a Target Red Card, buying Disney gift cards with the 5% discount (or get them from Sam's which has an almost-5% discount) and use those to buy the pass. The big problem with that is if you are buying them online or over the phone there is a limit to the number of cards you can use.
