Finally, definitely, decided to cancel our Christmas res (willingly talked out of cancelling by those with good reasons)
December 22, 2006 - January 1, 2007 - full hookup but not preferred.

Both DH and DD are tired of travelling at this time of year, even though it's the only long break DH gets as a college prof. I tried whining and crying - nothing worked. They think that 3 years of Christmas travel are enough for now, and that the 4 days up and back are a little too long in winter weather. I thought about threatening to go alone but since I wasn't able to manage the RV this trip, figured DH would just laugh at me.

So, thought I would announce on here first, so that hopefully a DIS camper can get it. (Sorry if I waited too long for you, bigdisneydaddy - glad to see you got a spot.)

I'll be calling about 9 am or so tomorrow morning - just after I get in to work. I'll update my post as I call. NOT CALLING ON 1/17

I'm sorry you are going to cancel your trip! It was nice of you to let us know.

I also appreciate hearing from someone who travels during school vacation weeks, because I thought it was bad and now I know it is! Not that this justifies taking the kids out of school, but it helps with my decision. I have a hard time with crowds, they really bother me.

Hi there, so much can happen between now and next December... can't you just hold the reservation for a few more months and seeif you have a change of heart?

Sadly, DD has her mind very firmly made up. DH is pretty close behind her in not wanting to go away over Christmas. I must admit - it was a bit stressful between trying to get gifts wrapped and packed/dropping off family gifts so that they would be there at sister's for rest of family/packing camper and trying not to take too many extra vacation days from work.

It wasn't the crowds that got DD - it was missing her cousins and aunts and uncles. As far as DH - well, I should have just left his sleepy self in the camper a few mornings...

So - since I know first-hand how difficult it is to get a Christmas week res, thought I would maybe make it easier for someone else.

We werent able to go this year and boy did we miss it !
I would think letting the ressies ride for a little while (till your family has a moment of clarity) would be okay.
