UPDATED: New Discount Being Released 12-21

Hi -

If the card cannot be used on food, does that mean that it also cannot be used to cover the gratuities if you are on the DDP?

This just doesn't seem like much of a "deal" to me.

Ok, so no one is really certain what this discount is going to be right?

I know a few people have called Disney and asked (myself included :flower3:) and either the CM knows enough to say it might include a giftcard that we might only be able to use for merchandise or the CM doesn't "know anything about any new discount" and if the did they couldn't tell us. I even emailed my TA to see if she had anymore information than we do and she doesn't.

I've seen a few disers post that getting the giftcard means we will have to pay rack rate for the room. But we got the b4g3 and a giftcard the last time.

So those of you that are running numbers already to see if the discount would be worth it, what are you basing your prices on?

I'll be on the site on Monday to see what the discount is and compare it to what I have now (I just can't wait for my TA to get back to me that night :flower3:) but I don't see how we can really speculate about if it is a good discount or not yet. The only thing I can even guess at at theis point is the giftcard (if we can use it for food :thumbsup2; if not, I'll use it to buy gifts for DC's teachers, nanny and gifts for DC's for NEXT Christmas :thumbsup2) Although, if you have any ideas to teach me to speculate, bring them on 'cause I can't wait for Monday :rolleyes1.

I do hope that the discount works out well for those that can use it. Good luck everyone!

What time do the new deals go live on the website anyway. Midnight? 8am?

I know they probably offer better deals to UK residents because they have to travel farther, but this seems similar to what is being talked about gift-card wise:

Pulled from UK Disney site:

Enjoy your FREE extra holiday spending money as you like at a wide variety of locations around Walt Disney World Resort, as payment towards meals, shopping, tours, entertainment, recreation and much more. Visit www.DisneyGiftCard.com for further details.

  • Stay at a Disney Value Resort and receive a $350 USD Disney Gift Card
  • Stay at a Disney Moderate Resort and receive a $550 USD Disney Gift Card
  • Stay at a Disney Deluxe Resort and receive a $750 USD Disney Gift Card
  • Stay at a Disney Deluxe Villa Resort and receive a $1000 USD Disney Gift Card
PLUS SAVE 20% on selected Walt Disney World Resort Hotels!
During the same period, you can also save 20% on your accommodation when you stay at selected Resorts - and even better, these savings are combinable with the Disney Gift Card offer.

  • SAVE 20% when you stay at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa or Disney's Old Key West Resort, PLUS receive a $1,000 USD Disney Gift Card
  • SAVE 20% when you stay at Disney's Yacht Club or Disney's Beach Club Resorts, PLUS receive a $750 USD Disney Gift Card

They get to use their gift card as a gift card, so hopefully that carries over to our deal. They also get room discounts, but only on select resorts. As for my family and our May trip, the 40% off code is probably better for us, unless it is offered with a room discount.

This deal is from Jan to mid-May. They also already have a free dining offer for the fall (mid-Aug to Nov 1st) up on the UK site.

Mid May? I hope that is not true or I am left out in the cold yet again.

This is for the UK deal. According to the rumors, the US deal should go to sometime in June I think. I only posted the details because the gift card offering seemed very similar to the rumors going around. Since they get a gift card and not a merch card, hopefully that will be the type of card offered to US folks. They also have a fall free dining offer out, which is similar (but not exactly the same as) the deal offered this past fall for the US. So maybe these two deals will be similar, but probably not exactly the same. Something to think about, anyway, while we wait in anticipation.

I will someone would answer your last question though...what time do deals usually come out?

I'm from the UK and hae taken up the 20% off the YC - Disney UK were offering (for my dates in May - not all the way through), 20% off the YC, BC, SSR or OKW. You also get a $1,000 gift card but only if you are staying 14 nights. As my trip is 7 nights I don't qualify for the gift card but I'm more than happy with the 20% off the YC - I sometimes book my stays through Disney US but the £/$ rate isn't great at the moment and it was quite a bit more expensive for me to book through Disney US on this occasion.

I hope everything manages to get a deal that works for them :goodvibes

I'll be watching out for the release of whichever new discounts might take place. I doubt they will match my pin for the Poly in early June.

Here is some :goodvibes for everyone that it may extend all the way into summer at least. Rack rates and a gift card on shopping would be a big downer. Here's hoping for the best!

So those of you that are running numbers already to see if the discount would be worth it, what are you basing your prices on?

The rumor is that the hotel package will be at full price so what I did is go to disneyworld.com and priced out what I currently have booked at full price. The difference between full price and the 7/4 deal at the Polynesian with 2 adults, 2 children is $1200 less

To me the $750 gift card for deluxe hotels isn't worth changing my package.
Even if my savings was only $700 it wouldn't be worth it to me to pay $700 more out of my pocket just to get a gift card that may or may not be used for food.

Right now this is all speculations and guessing :confused3 But hopefully tomorrow we should know for sure if the release date is still 12/21

For me, I've got nothing for my dates so anything is a step up. I wish the buy four get more deal was going on because that would have been great because that also included tickets.

As part of our planning we always put aside money for personal items. The gift card isn't ideal but it will allow for us to move some of the pieces around and will make a difference for us... just not as much as we would like.

I have zero sources, but I'm 100% sure this gift card will be eligible for dining. All of the past offers Disney has done with gift cards has included dining and I don't see how this would be different.

The only exception is the merchandise card they sell... but I doubt that is what will be included in this package.

Oh well, we'll see on Tuesday.

When I did the Travel Agent program at WDW, they gave us each a $50 merchandise card and we WERE able to use it for dining....so I would think that these cards would apply. Here's hoping! :thumbsup2

I just did some number crunching and found that for my 8 night trip in May, this rumored deal comes out good under the following conditions:

  • Paying rack rate for the first 5 nights with 8 day tickets and 5 nights dining, earning $500 gift card with moderate booking
  • Using my 30% off pin code for the same moderate resort (split stay reservation)
  • Assuming I can use the gift card for tips while on the dining plan and to make up for lost dining plan on the additional nights (will still have $ left over
Even accounting for the loss of dining credits the last few days, I come out slightly ahead of what we would have had with the 4/3 deal after adding 1 more night :cool1:

Right now I'm booked without any discounts so I'd take this deal but...would I have to rebook my ADRs or would they carry over?

:scared1:
No, you wouldn't have to re-book anything. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the pin code or public discount fairy to come visit you:wizard:

i dont plan to return to wdw till september after my january trip so this doesnt help me  well, heres hoping something good comes up for my time of the year! :goodvibes

See, this is the part I don't understand. The hotel package being full price is pure conjecture at this point. There hasn't been the slightest confirmation of this from Disney. There has been tentative confirmation that the discount will include a gift card, but beyond that no one can say what the discount will entail.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out why everyone is running these numbers without knowing what they should be running. I mean what happens tomorrow if it turns out there is a discount on the rooms plus the gift card. That means everyone who already decided that this discount isn't good has to rerun numbers again.

I'm all for the "Oh, I hope it is this or that or something else."; I guess I just wonder why this discount is being discounted (pun intended :lmao:) before it is even released.
