Updated Disney Gift Card Deals and More

It’s official, I’m retiring from the Updated Disney Gift Card thread effective immediately

There are a few reasons for my decision but the bottom line is, it’s just time.

I want to thank all of you for your help, support and patience over the years. I’ve learned a great deal and have been guided with generosity and kindness. I also want to thank you for opening up and sharing your life stories. In all honesty, I’m a better person for getting to know so many of you, so thank you for that.

I’ll still be on the DIS just no longer hosting this thread and will continue to value your friendship and trust. I wish nothing but the very best for you and your endeavors.

Take care my friends,
Thia
Best of luck Thia!! I'm know I'm not alone in having learned a lot around here these last couple years since you brought organization to the chaos. I know we'll chug along, albeit more clumsily, but you have trained us in the fine art of finding and stacking deals! How does that phrase go? Teach a man to fish! That's the one... you taught many of us how to fish for gift card deals and more. Thank you and ENJOY your retirement from updating :grouphug:

So my target circle offer is $15 off $145. Not nearly as good as some of you, but still 10%. My question is, if I buy a $150 gc with my red card it goes below $145. Will my circle offer still apply? Reading the info below I’m thinking yes because it’s “before other discounts”. Just wanted to know if anyone else has had their total gc purchase under their circle amount due to redcard 5% and if it worked. IMG_1799.png

yes, you will still qualify. I just had $15 in rewards on $100 and purchased a $100 GC with redcard for $95 and got the reward.

Logistically I'm wondering how we can keep the posts at the top of the thread updated now. Only the OP can change those, correct? If we want to keep the same format we'd likely need a new thread no?

Yeah on other forums there is a community Wiki post after the first post which allows any registered user to add content but I don't think DISBoards has that feature. So, the easiest way would be for someone to start a new post that they could edit and update, but it would still fall on that person to own the thread and continually update the first post.

An alternative way might be to use a Wiki or Google Docs (or multiple ones, like having one dedicated to DGC deals and one dedicated to other gift card deals similar to how FoxC63 kept things in separate posts) -- something like that could be maintained by a group of users to have the latest deals and potentially restrict access to edit to only those people who are "trusted" in this thread, so a random anonymous person couldn't come in any either post malicious links or just delete everything. Google Docs (or similar) might be the easiest since we could maintain a similar format to what FoxC63 has today but allow multiple people to edit it?

I previously had declined the idea of owning the thread as I honestly wouldn't be able to do nearly as good of a job as Fox63, she is able to update at least daily sometimes more than that. However, I would be open to the idea of a community of us maintaining a Google Doc that is shared amongst us, allowing us to share the ownership of updates.

@FoxC63 I know you are retiring, but what do you think about this idea? Do you think our lovely DISBoards moderators would be "OK" with us using an external link to store the latest deals? The forum posts could still be the latest and greatest when people find deals and want to share or discuss, but a Google Doc could be the "source of truth" and the first page could change to be the link to the 2 docs. What do you think?

Agree! I had never heard of retail me not before this thread, so many offers posted.

Slickdeals has a wiki is very helpful.

Yes, Slickdeals is exactly the forum I was thinking of... Unfortunately DISBoards doesn't have that feature. But, maybe we can figure out a way to keep this thread going/useful and share in the responsibility of updating it.

Omg Thia! Happy retirement from this thread for you! I’ve mostly lurked over the years but I have loved how consolidated it is and I could just ctrl + F on the first page. Thanks for all your hard work!

I was at Costco today and they had DoorDash gift cards! (Apologies if anyone already posted this). They were not in the main gift card area, more near clothes and seasonal products. 2-pack of $50 gift cards, limit two packs. $79.99 each. They had Instacart as well (which I think I’ve seen before) at same price but I didn’t check if there was a limit.

Maybe some of us regulars could volunteer to monitor gift card deals from a specific store and own a post in the beginning of the thread to regularly update. If we each take up one store, it might not be as time consuming as it was for Thia.

If you need to buy Disney World tickets (or Disneyland or Universal tickets), I found a bigger discount of 15% off from Viator.com and it MAY be combinable (YMMV) with the current 14% Cashback (up to $50) via RetailMeNot.

It is a referral code, but I don't make any money off of it - I just don't know of any other way to get the 15% off.

I just bought 2 MVMCP tickets for $360.25, it would have cost me $199 each plus tax through Disney's website (no discount for APs or DVC on this date). If I manage to get the $50 back from RMN, it would bring the price down to $310.25 or $155 each.

Here is the link: https://mention-me.com/m/ol/as3ri-76b0b15c26

Apologies if this violates any rules - but there is no financial benefit to me, it is just the only way I have found to get the 15% off code. The code you get is unique to each person who uses the link. You need to use an email address that has not used viator.com before - recommended you use Incognito mode or clear cookies / cache before you follow the link to make sure it gives you a code immediately. It may give you an error and say it will follow up and email you a code otherwise (which it may eventually email you a code, but it should immediately give you a code back if everything works correctly).

This is an amazing post and money saving offer! Thank you @Liquidice for taking the initiative in creating the link as well. I just need to buy DH & DS Halloween Horror Night tickets for Universal Orlando and unfortunately they don't sell them but if I wanted MNSSHPi and/or MVMCPi tickets, I'd buy them in a heartbeat!
Excellent, excellent deal! :thumbsup2

I've been a long-term lurker on this thread and haven't said much, but I really wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your efforts all this time. Thank you so much.
