Anyone ever had this happen?
I bought a physical gift card from
Disney Store and I wasn't able to peel back the security sticker, so I scratched it off.
However, when I entered the Gift Card numbers and EAN (aka security code) it gave me an error. I re-read everything super carefully and noticed what I thought was a piece of the sticker still stuck on the card, so I ignored it, and typed all the numbers in again figuring I had made a typo. No luck. Tried one more time - still no luck.
I looked more carefully at it and realized what I thought was a speck of the sticker left on the numbers was actually a misprinted number. The number did not print fully and just a small black dot for the first digit of the EAN printed instead. Because of this, I had entered the EAN number wrong multiple times.
I do think this is a misprint and not a result of me scratching off the number as this is a plastic card not a cardboard one and the numbers are printed on in a way that you can't really scratch them off easily.
I wish I was paying more attention to notice there were only 7 digits in the EAN instead of the normal 8. I also wish DIsney would return an error message if you type in too few digits for the EAN like they do when you enter too few digits for the gift card number itself.
Now, if I try to check the balance on the card, it always returns an error. I believe I have heard that if you enter the EAN card wrong multiple times, it automatically will lock the card. Does anyone know how long it will lock the card?
Since only 1 number is missing, I assume I can probably narrow it down in 9 tries, if it locks after 3 tries, it means I could eventually figure it out and write it down. But I don't know how long it locks for.
