*UPDATED* DISDivas & Family October Mini Meet *UPDATED* (3.0 Version!)

Now i'm curious as to what Heather is going to be! I bet it will be kewl:thumbsup2

Cheryl... you said you had your bottom.. to Your costume.. do You want me to look for a fringed seude jacket.. we could add little beads to them or some feathers when i visit.

Actually (and I need to follow up today)--there is this really cool fringed thingie I found on ebay.

So what is the Billy Hill? Is it a show? A meal? :confused3

It's mostly a show--the food available are the standard chicken nugget type meals and chili. I usually don't eat there (or bring it in from outside)--the line moves SLOW. They also have ice cream sundaes and such. But again, the line moves SLOW. I would rather just take in something to drink and eat somewhere else.

Thank you, Cristabel, for adding me to Billy Hill.

I have to do some thinking now about my costume!

When I first heard about Billy Hill, I thought it would be awful. Boy, was I wrong. These are very talented musicians and the jokes are all funny (even the second time around). The two times I've been there, I've entered only a few minutes before the show starts and had to sit in the very back. So when we go as a group we need to get there early and sit up front! They don't make you buy anything (like a real club would), but the seating is at small round tables.

Hi Katie!

That's very nice of you to offer. I don't want it to be a bright green though, and wonder what shades it comes in? I need it to be more of a 'witchy' green. I'm not going to get to worried about it, even if I don't go green, I'll still look ok. I've dealt with stage makeup before, and I guess that would be ok. I'm used to mineral makeup though, and don't want to feel like I have stuff caked on. That would be uncomfortable. I've worked with Ben Nye makeups before, and I know they are regarded as among the best. We will see!
I know what you mean about feeling like stuff is caked on your face. Even with professional facepainters, sometimes I see them using cheap, low quality, thick, itchy makeup ....yuck!.....and it makes me angry, esp. when it's on little kids. :sad1: Since you've used Ben Nye, you know what good makeup is. I've never used it myself because it's too expensive for what I do on a regular basis, but I know the quality. I use Mehron, or Snazaroo which are both less expensive, but still good. I order mine online because I can order the separate colors that I want, but I know that "Display and Costume" stores here in WA carry those lines also. I don't know about eveywhere else, but here, I can't just get one color there, so that's why I order it online. As far as the shades, there are only 2 shades of green, but I have about 18 colors and mix them to what I want. I have really sensitive skin and I can tolerate it on me without any problem. When you mix it with a little bit of water and sponge it on, it is so light that you really don't know it's there, and it doesn't crack or peel, etc. Whatever you decide, I can't wait to see your costume!...It sounds awesome! I will be bringing my paints/makeup with me to DLR anyway for myself and for others who might want to get a little something done before the party, so you are welcome to stop by and see if it works for you. We'll be doing the party on Wed., but I'm beginning to get a little sad that I'll miss seeing everyone in their costumes. I hope everyone gets lots of pics! :)

You are so thoughtful to offer to help:hug: It will be so nice to meet you!
It will be so nice to meet you too! I absolutely love what I do and it makes me very happy to be able to share it with others, if possible.:) I usually do most of my work in the Summer time because it's nice outdoors here in Seattle....LOL, but I injured my back a few weeks ago and had to cancel my summer bookings. Since it is pretty seasonal here for me, I'm frustrated that I didn't get to do very much this season, so doing it for Halloween will help make up for that.

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone, too, and I'm so sorry to hear that you hurt your back. Hope that you're feeling better now! You must be a talented artist because face painting sounds so hard to me. :) I can barely draw stick people. :rotfl2:

LOL! Dawn, you are such a sweetie!! I'm suprised you haven't been there yet. It's a great show. You will have to take Bob and your Mom back to it again.

Around the holidays, they do a Christmas show that is really good too!

Have fun!!

When I took my Mom and Sisters to it, we all went to Rancho Zocalo first and came back and ate that during the show. Either that or a good ole Dole Whip!! No problems............it's all owned by Disney!!

I hope your back gets better soon. :flower3:I know what that feels like! :sad2:

You should ask the girls on the disneyland community board who do disney-inspired make up. They use the real (expensive) stuff, MAC, but I'm sure they can point you in the right direction.
wazowskilover:) and disneyl0ve.
Yeah!! :thumbsup2You should check out this thread. Those girls are really talented!!!

I know..........this was a really nice offer! :grouphug:

You are too funny!.....and thanks for the kind words. :) I never thought I could do it either, but I've always loved doing artistic things, and I am on disability due to some health conditions (I'm an R.N., but not working as one right now :) ), so I started looking into what I might be able to do in the field of art. I started my business about 4 years ago, and I really enjoy it. I'm sorry about your foot, too and I hope it's healing well. We'd be an interesting sight hobbling around DLR together, wouldn't we? LOL

I thought some of you might be interested in this sight. :) It's the company that I order my facepaints from and they have a REALLY cool section where they post entries into their contests for facepainting. The photos of what some of the people can do are totally amazing! Also, it might give everyone some great ideas for halloween, because they have separate sections for everything imaginable. Check it out. :)

Congrats on being able to tap into your talents! I've been going to the character drawing class as the Animation Academy for the last few visits and am trying to find my inner artist but it is a struggle. OK, DH and DS would say my drawings are really good for a laugh. :) As far as hobbling goes, at Disneyland I would be the happiest hobbler you have ever seen! I am so excited about getting back to California and HoJo's and MiMi's and Disneyland! It will do my heart so much good. :) I can hardly wait to meet everyone!!!

I just realized that we will be in San Diego on the day that you are all going to the Halloween party, so I won't be available for makeup before that since we won't be returning until later that evening. Sorry that I can't help out. :sad1: Have fun and take lots of great pictures!

After reading the Goofy's group's PMs, it is now off the list. No one is able or interested in going anymore for our October meet.

Cristabel... please would you add me and my mom to Billy Hills.. or whatever that show is... i know i know my friend Tina is going to have a fit..but we've never seen it...and i'm looking forward to doing it with the group.

I'll be a first-timer at the show too. :) I could never convince my teenaged DS to go until now, so I am so excited that I will FINALLY get to see it. :) He loves comedy, so I think he will rapidly become a Billy fan along with me!

Ok, so I called Disney Dining this morning to make our PM. WCT does not open until 11:30 am - is this too late for anyone? We are a party of 22 plus one high chair (for Katie's baby princessprincess:). They don't take reservations for parties over 20 and for a party of 20 she didn't have anything available until after 12:00 pm. I asked her what if we had two parties of 11. She said my best bet was working with the manager (Ephraim). She said he will try to accomodate us if he can. So I left him a message on his VM. Hopefully he will call me back today. If I have anyone's confirmation wrong on the list above, please let me know.:) I know Mel & Kaitlyn are still a "maybe". I'll keep everyone updated on my progress.

Have a good day everyone.:)

Thanks so much for doing that, Linda! We knew that it didn't open until 11:30, that is fine. The idea was to get as early as we could so those hitting the road can take off after. We are so close to 20, is everyone else a definite?

Thank you for voluntearing (giggle) to do this and for giving us a status report.

Ephraim called me back about an hour ago and we are all set! At first he tried to say we had to have a "Banquet Menu" which costs a flat $30 pp and includes an appy, entree, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage. I said NOOOO! We just want to order from the regular menu. I told him we would have cash and to have a few bottles of Magicale on ice for us!:laughing:He laughed and said no probem. He said the set menu helps when you are in a hurry (since some people have a plane to catch). I told him we'd be there at 11:20 am and ready to order by 11:30 am,:thumbsup2 Can't wait.

They do amazing work, don't they? I have quite a collection of eye colors (last count around 100), and 20 of those are green, I'm going to experiment, and see what I can do. Even if I'm not green green, but just a glow of green will do.

That's great Linda! Thanks for doing that for us. I can't wait to have some Magicale with my friends again. :woohoo:

I think Stacie, Allyson, and I are coming out Thursday now. That will help. I can hit my FL favorites first thing Friday morning! :cool1:
