*UPDATED* DISDivas & Family October Mini Meet *UPDATED* (3.0 Version!)

I am SOOO excited!! We had booked the Desert Inn for the trip and got a GREAT rate I must say BUT I kept hearing everyone talk about how cheap the AP rates were for Oct and then I got an e-mail from getaway today and I still need to buy Shane and the girls tickets so I was looking about THAT and decided to see if the rates were still cheap for the hotels and they were. So I talked it over with Shane and we decided what the heck. SOOOO we are staying at the DLH next month!! I am SO excited! We always stay at the cheapie Harbor hotels but you can't beat these rates right now and the girls have NEVER stayed on property here! So we are all really excited! Plus it will be nice and close if we want to have drinks on Thurs or for dinners or whatever else we want to do. I am REALLY excited!! :)

Hey all!

Mel-I found these two options at Lands end, neither is perfect but could work I think once you add the letters.

This one has a jewel neck not a turtleneck, but I don't think it would make that big of a difference. (IMHO :thumbsup2)

This one is thicker knit and long sleeves. You could push the sleeves up to look shorter like the original sweater:

Callie, I'm sad you won't be joining us. I understand though.

Oh Oh Oh!!!

I think I found something workable Mel...

The only issue I see is that it costs $50....

Would you ever wear it again? I mean you could dress up as Annette for Church or something. :rotfl:

ETA: I was just thinking, maybe you could safety pin the letters on from the back so that they are not permanent, and then you could wear it again. I was thinking at first you would iron them on, but there are ways to add the letters and not make them permanent. I can't wait to see you at the party! You will make a perfect Annette!

Congrats on booking the DLH, Kelly!

I just got a Lands End book in the mail today and was going to suggest that Mel look at them!

Well that one's even better!

Heather!!

This is perfect!!:cool1: I already have felt sticky letters for the sweater. I'm hoping that after I'm done with the costume I can just pull them off again. If the letters are too tacky, then I'm just going to get regular felt letters and tack them on with a little thread around the outline of the letters. How do you think that would do??

Thanks! It couldn't be more perfect!!! :goodvibes

Love her costume! Looks like something Allyson would wear!!
Must be the Freshman mode.

What an adorable costume and an adorable daughter! Makes me miss my DD! You are so talented!

And if you haven't found a sweater by the time I go to Denver in Oct. I can look for one there because I know they'll have plenty of their winter stuff in stores! I have one that is similar but it's black so that won't work.
Thanks Vicki.

I hope to have my sweater figured out by then, but thanks for the offer.

Wow, Tinkermell! You are so talented! My Mom is a great seamstress and now DD, age 29, is getting her to teach her how to sew. I think it's wonderful and hope that someday she'll be able to sew a costume for her son or daughter. Thanks for sharing the photo of your beautiful daughter and the costume you made for her!

I've yet to meet any of you in person but where the party room is concerned, I'm guessing that term refers to just about any place that DisDivas congregate.....:rotfl:
Thankyou! I do enjoy sewing. My Mom was and is a great seemstress, and I learned most of it from her. I kind of got out of sewing for a few years. I sewed so much for me and my oldest DD ,that by the time my other DD arrived, I was burned out on it. Now, I'm into it a litte again. I just finished sewing an adorable apron for Kaitlyn for her first cooking class at school. I will try and get her to model it for a picture too. I've also done a few baby blankets lately! :cloud9:

Mel- I love that costume!!! I wish I could sow. My DS just turned 14 this past weekend. He actually wants to be a Power Ranger for Halloween but I'm having a hard time finding an adult costume that doesn't cost an arm & a leg.
I think it is cool he wants to be a Power Ranger. :cool1: Have you looked on ebay or anything for a costume?

By the way.....it is never too late to learn to sew. My niece is taking classes right now, and she is in her forties. :thumbsup2

Yes they are difficult. That goodness we love them or we would have drowned them by now.
:eek::rotfl:

I don't blame you one bit. How exciting!! Yay!!!

Hey......by the way. Have you been to the best costume store in the world in Old Town Sacramento?? My girlfriend and I spent a few hours in there. I can not believe the inventory they have. I can't remember the name? Madam ??? Anyways, I wish there was something like that around here. I mean if anybody visits Sacramento, you need to check this place out. 3 stories of costumes with every room with a differnt theme. I think my favorite was the medieval and Viking room, and next were all of the masks like Phantom of the Opera kind of thing. My girlfriend and I just laughed and laughed at all of the fun things to try on. It was a blast!! There was so much stuff, it would be really really hard to make up your mind on what to be. :upsidedow

I think stitching it would work great. I would worry tacky part would not come off the sweater and then it would look like a dark spot.

I don't think you'll go wrong with either sweater. You'll look great!

Thanks everyone for the congrats! We are really excited! Esp the girls! I don't know if it will still be warm enough to swim but they are SO excited for that pool LOL! They reminded me that it is heated! ;)

Mel you are going to be a PERFECT Annette! So cute! Course you would have made a cute MP too! Can't wait to see your costume! I know you will look adorable no matter what! And no I hadn't heard of that costume shop! I love Old Sac but I think it is one of those things where when you live somewhere you never go LOL. We hardly ever go down there cuz it is so full of tourists and the parking stinks. It is fun to look in the shops though when we do go. I bet those costumes are super expensive though but probably awesome! :)

Can't wait to see everyone's costumes!

Kelly, You NEED to go to that store!!!!! And I bet their prices are comparable to other costume stores. I would go there just to get ideas. I'm telling you that it is the neatest place ever. On one floor alone a big part is just dedicated to wigs, eyelashes, mustaches, beards, and so on. One room will be just for princesses, queens and kings. One for Disney, one for animals, one for different parts of the world. It's amazing! I seriously would take your girls for a fun day out. Be a tourist!!!! I mean it Kelly. You have a treasure, and you needs to see it! :goodvibes
Have I convinced you yet?:laughing:

LOL! Ok ok you got me! If I don't go with mom tomorrow I will def have to take the girls the next time we are down there!! Of course that could be dangerous for my wallet! ;)

Katie, ebay does have a number of Power ranger adult costumes, but they are kinda spendy!

I'm thinking of placing a Von's order for this trip. If anybody is interested in adding their order to mine, just PM me.

Have you checked into the t-shirt costumes? Then you can add to it. I think the shirt is on sale for $10

Thanks for the link Stacie :thumbsup2. I'm going to show my DS when he gets home. I think he'll love it because it can wear it other times besides Halloween .

By the way.....it is never too late to learn to sew. My niece is taking classes right now, and she is in her forties. :thumbsup2

I know. I looked into it once & that's as far as I got . I have a sowing machine, but I never use it. I really should take a class.

I did look on Ebay, but I didn't want to spend that much. Thanks though.

Have you guys decided on which Fantasmic showing you are getting tickets for? I am kicking it around again, but at the moment, it is more important for me to see the new fireworks Saturday night. I won't get another chance, so if I have to sit around and save spots for it at the Plaza Inn I will.

Now if you guys are going to the late showing of Fantasmic, then I might hang. Please please don't do anything based on me though. I just kind of want to know what you guys are thinking of.

Gracias chiquitas!!
