I Wanna Rock & Roll All Night! And Party Every Day!
After Rachaels princess transformation and a full night of rides, fireworks, Dole Whips and dancing we finally limped back to our villa and fell into bed at 2 AM, determined to sleep in. We decided to take it easy our second day by going to Universal.
Haha! Im so funny!
Universal has a very different feel than Disney and though it was whimsical
eye popping
and extremely cool
.
its not Disney.
This isnt a bad thing and I told Tom that this will be the place to be when the kids are teenagers but while they are little, there is just something magical about knowing at any moment a parade might break out right in front of you that was missing at Universal.
I will say though, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey was off the chart. Absolute Best. Ride. Ever. For you Disney fanatics out there, it was a cross between Soarin, Dinosaur and Peter Pan. But better.
After we drank up some Butter Beer (yum!), spewed out some Pumpkin Juice (Seriously? Ew!), dined at the Three Broomsticks, took a listen to Moanin Myrtle in the girls bathroom and then hit every single ride Universal has to offer (save for the Hulk) my kids declared that Universal was boring and we left.
Boring? Boring?! ATTENTION LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! I HAVE THE MOST SPOILED ROTTEN CHILDREN IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD!
Should I have contained that? Anyway! Moving on!
So after our relaxing jaunt to Universal (I slay me!), we start getting ready for
party time at the pool! Heres 10 things you need to know about this night
1. Every Saturday at Give Kids The World is Mayor Claytons Birthday. Mayor Clayton is (you guessed it!) the Mayor! Of GKTW! And Saturdays are his birthday! This night was hosted by the Something mAAgic Foundation. The same folks that sent us on a Wish Flight so we felt an obligation to go.
2. We were exhausted and truth be known, I did not want to go. We had a Big Day planned for the next day and I figured we would just make an appearance, eat some food and leave for an early bedtime.
3. On our way in from Universal we passed the party and I realized it was poolside. I told the kids it was at the pool and immediately realized my mistake. My daughter had a $200 hairstyle that would have easily lasted the week if she didnt get in a swimming pool. But they were gleeful about relaxing in a pool and there was no turning back. I choked back tears as I took her hair out and was thankful again for the pictures. R.I.P. princess hair.
4. The food was tasty. The kids made immediate friends. We started to relax.
5. I got cotton candy. I may or may not have gone back for seconds on the cotton candy.
6. Okay, I totally went back for seconds on the cotton candy.
7. There was a talking mirror that completely, totally, fully mesmerized my kids. They took very different approaches to this mirror.
Rachael mocked the mirror by enjoying her food in it even as the mirror begged her to share.
Please give me a bite!
Mmmmm.
Please! Just one!
Mmmm.
Marc on the other hand had his mind momentarily blown by the concept of a talking mirror before he decided it MUST be TRICKERY and immediately started looking for the how.
But he ultimately could not resist spending all night talking to the mirror.
Hey Marc! Wheres your sister?
8. Rachael was dancing.
And then she did a little dancing.
And she capped that off with a bit of dancing.
This is what I wrote on Facebook that night:
Today we were all hot, tired and just a bit cranky. But it was Mayor Claytons birthday party, hosted tonight by American Airlines, and the kids just came alive! Both my children love a good party but I am not lying when I say that out of the 100 or so kids here, my daughter is the absolute LIFE of the party! That girl is pure rock-n-roll!
9. That was sorta foreshadowing because later in the evening we did this:
I Love Rock & Roll
10. We were the last to leave the party. And we were sad to see it end.
To be continued
