There was a thread a while back where I asked anyone if they were on it and what they thought. My ob/gyn put me on it for the convenience. However, I went to my primary care physician and she also had some thoughts.

* She agreed that there are no medical reasons to have a period every month and she is thinking about puting some of her patients on it.

* She did say that if you (meaning anyone) were going on it to take 1200 mg. of calcium every day because once we hit our twenties we lose bone and taking the pill also causes that.

She seemed ok with the whole thing so once I got her opinion too, I started the first pack this week.

Hope this answers some questions. :p

I start mine this Sunday. Went to the dr. this morning. She gave me a free sample. I was expecting a week or so, but it was the whole 3 months and it came in this cute little pink make-up type bag.

Thanks for the info. I hope I can get a sample at my next dr. appointment.

I'm glad you brought this up again. I just went to my OB/GYN for my post partum check-up yesterday. I asked about going on Seasonale and said that it wasn't necessary. She said that it generally costs about $40 a month (granted this could vary by pharmacy and insurance). So she wrote me a prescription for a generic brand that would work the same way (and costs about $15). I just take 3 months of pills straight without taking the placebo pills. But, the way she wrote the Rx, I won't run out of pills in a year. So, if you're thinking of using Seasonale, you might want to check on pricing to make sure it's not too expensive.

$40 per month or per prescription? I think what you qouted is probably for each prescription, not every month since its only filled quarterly.

No, she told me that it's way more expensive than regular pills. Also, there's no generic form of it. They can make it more expensive because of the way they're marketing it. But, it's really no different from other pills. Obviously, it may not be that expensive for everyone. But, my insurance doesn't cover BCP, so it's best for me to go with a generic brand. All, I'm saying is to check on the pricing before you get it.

No, I don't think she is right. When I had my script filled the total was the cost of what 3 months would add up to (i.e. $10 a month totaled $30) It's not charged per month.
