I didn't realize that you had such a huge chip on your shoulder. Clearly, calling within three hours of the death, which in fact is what the editor said happened was at the least poor timing. There will be time to "humanize" the story. The wife will be a widow for a long time and the child will be fatherless forever. The editor clearly felt that the reporter was out of line and a memo was sent out prior to our conversation, which he shared with me. Do I think that this woman is entitled to and deserves redress in the courts? I absolutely do. It was a dangerous and ultimately fatal situation which never should have happened. However, I do think it is appropriate to give the family at least the time to plan the funeral before some reporter calls and says: "How are you feeling right now"? You seem to delight in any opportunity to launch a personal attack and that is your choice, but it is rather transparent none the less.
