This one is right up there with the Hartford Confetti Poppers, to me. You posted this because you wanted us to congratulate you for "setting the editor straight." I don't think the reporter was out of line in calling the wife, conversely, I think he or she might've been out of line if he'd made no effort to humanize the victim in the story, or reach out to the victim's loved ones. But, in your shrill indignancy, don't let me slow you down, I think you should write a letter to the paper too so the whole community can pat you in the back.

If your husband died in an at-fault situation, the story hit the paper, and no one had tried to reach out to you - you'd be ticked.
