Update on new CR shop please!

Has anyone heard a solid opening date for the new shop on the 4th floor at CR? I have one month to go before check in, and I'm really hoping it's ready by then.

The rumored date I've heard is November 20, but I'm hoping someone "in the know" can give us some info. One thing I've always loved about CR was the shopping, so I'm really hoping it's good to go when I check in December 11th.

I'm checking in on the 9th of Dec. and I REALLY want it to be open by that time.

But there are so many rumors flying. Nov. 20th, 23th, anytime during the last week of Nov. basically and the first week in December.

That's great news and it's also good for anyone with an upcoming stay at the Contemporary, because it means no more construction on the 4th floor. Until the Concourse Steakhouse closes so that can be turned into Chef Mickey's Express.

That was pretty fast! When we were there in August ,they had the walls up but hadn't done anything inside yet. We'll be at the GF next month and we'll have to take a monorail ride over to check it out. Thanks for the link!

We are at the CR right now. We came in this afternoon and just got back from MVMCP. When we checked in, the lady at the front desk seemed to be stalling. After waiting about fifteen minutes, there was a big group of cm's carrying balloons and saying that we were the family of the day. When we got back tonight, we had a white and chocolate CR shaped candy and chocolate and white chocolate Mickey heads. I'm not sure how good of a deal we got with an upgrade, if any at all. We booked and payed for a tower room with a MK view and that's what we got. They took a picture and had it waiting in the room when we got back. I will ask about the new store tomorrow at breakfast at Chef Mickey's. I did just go down to the gift shop and they were working on it now. I'll post tomorrow evening when we get back to the room.

I have asked several workers about when the new store will open. They all said next Friday (23rd). We're leaving that afternoono so I am excited that we'll actually get to see it. They also went on to say that they were trying to push the progress faster so that it could open by the 21st. If not, then it would definitely be open by the 23rd.

Thanks for the update! I'll be checking in at the CR two weeks from today! Any word on when the refurb. in the lobby will be completed?

I haven't asked about the lobby area but will do so this evening. I am stuck in the room today with my daughter who will be "6" tomorrow. She woke up this morning with vomiting and diarrhea. My husband took the other two kids to Epcot, where we had reservations for lunch at Le Cellier. I really wanted to go there since I've read so many good things about it. I guess I'll have to just hear it from them and try it on our next trip. It will probably be awhile. Our last trip was 2001. We only had one child then.

I hope you're daughter feels better and if it helps I know what it's like to be sick at WDW, so she is not the 1st one to get sick there and won't be the last.

An employee here said they are trying their hardest for an opening tmorrow. There are several men working in the new store doing everything from cleaning glass doors, dusting and vacuuming. I observed them pushing carts of maybe decorations. I haven't seen anything placed on the shelves yet.

As for my daughter, she felt well enough to go to Epcot for a few hours yesterday. We didn't go to the Princess Storybook meal at Norway. I had planned a dinner at 1900 Park Fare for the evening with the characters. I had a beautiful Ariel cake on pre-order. Right before we got on the monorail, she was running back to the bathoom for round two of the stomach virus. She wanted to go to dinner anyway and just sat as we quickly ate and they delivered the cake and sang to her. We brought the whole thing back to the room. She was sick throughout the night. Now, our three year old son woke up this morning with the same thing. This is his first experience with a stomach virus. I sent my husband and oldest son out for a while. They are going back to Epcot to stand in line for the Soarin' ride.

I hope they get well so we can attend Animal Kingdom and MGM before we go home on Friday.

They are nearly finished stocking the shelves for the opening which will be tomorrow afternoon. They didn't think it would be ready in the morning, so decided to open it in the afternoon instead.

I was also wondering if they might have any special merchandise for the grand opening. I don’t really care about pins though. Hoping maybe they’ll have some hats. Someone raided my hat supply, so I really need some new ones.

I was trying to find out where all the Dis'ers were coming for (I thought the Castle pics, or Yak and Yeti - but no, the CR shop!). The shop was supposed to open the day before Thanksgiving (originally the day after). I am going down to Disney today and will check it out and get pictures. I was told the doors wouldn't be on yet, but that they'd have security on either side. But that was last week, who knows if they are on time? (I am sure they want to sell during this big week, though).

The main section of the lobby was supposed to be about done today, so we'll see if that is too.
