Okay. Claudia mentioned Work One to me several weeks ago. And I found them and went. It's organization to help people get jobs, money, or anything else they need. Goodwill, impact, and several other groups have all went in together for this. It's free for anyone who needs it.
A couple weeks ago I took an apptitude test and last week a career assessment test. Yesterday I had an appointment with a case manager.
Apparently my scores were off the charts. Now, that sounds impressive, but the chart ended at the end of 12th grade.
But, she had the actual scores and was impressed anyway.
She talked with me about this and that and I told her my situation and she was really helpful. She told me that a department store was hiring and she wanted me to go fill out and application and let her know when they called me.
She also said that if I prove to be dependable and reliable with work and everything she requires, then after the Christmas season is over, she is going to put me into a training class for computers and other office stuff. So I can go work for an insurance company.
She wants to make sure I'm worth spending the money on to train me. But, the way she was talking, working for the insurance company was almost a given, after the training.
Anyway, I went this morning to Ayres to fill out and application and I saw Penney's was looking also, so I figured I'd fill one out there on my way out.
But, I didn't get that far. I filled out the application and they asked if I wanted to wait to be interviewed and I said yes. They interviewed me and hired me.
I start next month.
