Walt Disney World Resort:

The Walt Disney World Resort safely withstood Hurricane Frances and maintained power throughout the storm. After a visual inspection of the entire property, only minimal horticultural damage has been found and guest areas have not been affected by the storm.

The Walt Disney World Resort anticipates returning to normal operations in all areas by Tuesday, Sept. 7.

The following Walt Disney World theme parks and locations will open on Monday, Sept. 6:

Magic Kingdom Park 10 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Epcot 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Disney-MGM Studios Closed
Disney's Animal Kingdom Closed
Blizzard Beach Water Park Closed
Typhoon Lagoon Water Park 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Disney's Wide World of Sports Open for Scheduled Events
Downtown Disney Area 10 a.m. - 11 p.m.
Pleasure Island Closed

Disney Cruise Line:

Given the lengthy, extended duration of the storm, damage assessments which need to occur, the disruption in air travel and ocean wave conditions through Sept. 6, Disney Cruise Line has made the following decisions:
The Disney Magic five-day cruise scheduled to depart Monday, Sept. 6 will be pushed to Tuesday, Sept. 7. This will now be a four-day cruise returning on Saturday (this cruise was originally a seven-day cut to five-days).
The Disney Wonder three-day cruise (originally a four-day) scheduled to depart Monday, Sept. 6 in the evening has been cancelled. Guests who were scheduled to sail on this cruise will be given the opportunity to transfer over to the Disney Magic.

Many thanks for your update. We've been anxious about all of our Florida neighbors!! Glad to know that at least central FLA seems to have dodged a bit of the bullet.

Thanks for the update...I have been wondering but haven't heard much about Disney on the news up here in Chicago. I hope everybody has fared well down there...

According to what I saw, everything but Pleasure Island will be open today.

Yes, thanks for the updates. With what we have seen on these boards, allears and the weather channel, we're still planning on leaving today for the world and OKW. Just another adventure!

It is still lousy weather with Francis recirculating bands throughout the state. I would stay in my room and wait until Tuesday.

We are having lots of tornados pop up here and lots of coastal flooding.

So glad to hear Disney is still doing its exempliary job!

One of the Disney ships was diverted to Galveston, and is scheduled to return to Canaveral on Monday. I don't know for sure which ship was diverted, I think the Wonder, which would explain the total cancellation of the Monday departure cruise.

So glad to hear WDW withstood Frances! We were originally scheduled for the 9/4 7-night turned 5-night turned 4-night but cancelled and opted for our refund. We are now booked on AP rate (no DVC points left :() at WL for 4 nights beginning this Wednesday.

CAN'T WAIT!!!! :sunny:

No cruise lines will be departing from Port Canaveral on Monday. They will both be there on Tuesday instead.

Thank you for the update. I am glad to hear that WDW faired well.

Does anyone know why MGM is closed today?

Really - we can only guess why management would say the parks fared well and then didn't open two of them ...............

My guesses would be

- CMs are calling out tending to their own personal issues with the storms, so staffing levels are low

- the AK is closed an extra day just like before - as the park with the most vegetation, it probably has a lot of clean up

- CMs are needed to help clean some areas up rather than operate a park

- WDW realized from the last storm that three parks open (the AK stayed closed an extra day) they still had low attendance - so why open 3? Rather than operate 3 parks half way - just open two parks

- WDW needed more time to inspect some buildings

I really think there is no one reason - but there are lots of them that make sense of the decision.
